To be honest the biggest improvement for Kai for me is his confidence and swagger, "May angas na." That is what's missing in the past. He does not get frustrated anymore when he does not get ball and given set plays, but he focus more on rebounding and shot blocking which is good. For me, I rather see him have 15 rebounds and 4 blocks even with zero points than see him score 30 but only one block and 3 rebounds.
Good thing he is not in PBA, the way the PBA quality has gone down, he will average 30 points 20 rebounds and 5 blocks easily even in a import laded conference. Bleague has become world class and allot of quality imports with no height limit to compete against, that is why it is a much better training ground for Kai.sigpic

Quite curious how much Kai weighs right now. I know it’s not the be all of his new found improvement and consistency but I’m pretty sure it plays a huge part. It is evidently much better than what they’ve tried the last couple years of maintaning Kai’s weight at a certain limit that had him cut weight at some point. I personally believe it contributed greatly to his stamina issues. Cutting weight is no joke.Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

its good that the coach didn’t force him to be like porzingis. he’s more of back to the basket guy with some middy and occasional 3’s and some drop off passes.. kai found a perfect team with a good PG that they both blend each other well..Philippine Malditas to FIFA Womens World Cup 2023

Yuki Kawamura might be the best thing to happen to Kai Sotto.
In the last 5 games, Kai has averaged 20.4 ppg and 10.2 rpg on 77% TS (73% FG) in 25.9 mpg.
In this stretch, Yuki has averaged 9.4 apg.
He's playing the best basketball of his young career with the best PG in Japan.Philippine Malditas to FIFA Womens World Cup 2023

He's 21 so it's really just part of growing up. He's physically and mentally getting stronger, he's learning from coaches and he's figuring out his strengths.
People don't realize how much pressure has been put on him ever since he was a kid. He's only starting to become a man and learning how to deal with it.
Now we have to pray that he stays healthy during this crucial stage of his career. Him and Edu maximizing their potential are vital for Gilas success.

This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV
