i think filipinos really don't get what the international standard used by scouts are, case in point the chiba jets coach singled out jd tungcab and calvin oftana as the most impressive tnt players he has seen and played against.

i think most fiipino fans, scouts and even coaches are still evaluating players based on an outdated system or worse, a padrino system.

Im not here to diss Wemby and Chet but I'm stating my opinions on them. They are not better than Kai in their current state. Im still looking forward to Kai against Wemby/Chet. Tomorrow's game is full of uncertainty but to state that both Chet and Wemby are way better than Kai is full of hogwash.hahaha

Qoute all you want all you casuals.lol The f*ck we said it first when we said Wemby's handles isnt worth anything in the NBA setting. He will have no post presence in offense and he has been camping in the 3pt line. Wemby showing that his shooting has been really so underwhelming and he should convert to playing as a big eventually. His lack of strength and almost zero post skills would be his biggest roadblock in the post. He is just so damn lucky that he will have all the opportunities to improve even if he will have a hard time. Dami niyung walang alam sa bball pero sobrang opinionated. Wemby got lucky one 3 fell because the aim was helped by a foul.lol he shot 1/6 and his France season avg would really show that you don't bank on him jacking up 3s to save SA. Wemby doesnt know what to do if not for shooting jumpers. His dribble wont be useful unless he would know when to shoot and drive.

The Filipino fans are easily impressed by highlights,sadly local coaches and scouts seems to fall in the same line.The system badly needed to be improved at all levels starting at HS.

it'll be interesting to see if kai can replicate chet or wemby's numbers even just in the bleague .... at least that'll be a start and an encouraging sign that he can be "dominating". imho once he does that only they he and his camp should focus on making an nba roster.

tbh, bol bol - who is still struggling to get a stable nba gig despite balling for the magic last year - is even a notch better than kai is right now.

while it can be argued that hype also contributes to getting noticed and thus signed by an nba team there's a world of difference if the one hyping you is well known internationally (like a stephen a, woj) or a recognized expert (givony) vs a homer sayson and queenito henson.

think going to belfast and seeing all the murals, a lot of patriotism and nationalism in them (from both sides) but between the smiling faces depicted on the catholic murals vs the machine gun toting, balaclava wearing uva characters on the protestant + unionist side ... hell i know which toothpaste i'm buying.

that’s why glue guys and players with great fundamentals are non existent for ordinary pinoy fans,w/o that scola dunk, norwood would have been a disappointment for casuals.

they tend to equate dunks as great offense, blocks and rbds as defense, they cant even comprehend the importance of motor/stamina and assume that every player can go 48 mins w/o diminishing returns

one on one, bolbol will eat kai alive. bolbol has a very long wingspan. kai cannot shoot outside while bolbol can. if kai decides to postup, then bolbol's wingspan will just negate kai's length. theres a reason why bolbol is in the NBA and kai is not. lets not kid ourselves.
