nba grind is no joke, 82 games in 6 months, and constant traveling around the USA and Canada will take a toll on ones body. Back ti back games, 4 games in 5-6 nights, long road trips after the game is not for the physically weak. The hadadis of the world can have long careers outside the nba, you have to be a physical specimen to last 82 games + offseason.

I think Kai can have a good career within the Asia-Pacific region. I do hope he makes the CBA in the near future ( especially if the NBA window is totally closed)

Pace is faster too. You're also playing with and against the top 1% athletes in the world both in offense and defense. How some people manage to make a long career out of those conditions is a mystery to me. Or it might be just due to PEDs lol.

reminds me of a steve kerr story from
inside the nba, one of the reasons why he retired is that the anti inflammatory drug he was taking was declared a banned substance for the upcoming season (2003-2004). Maybe we have a lot of player who ate taking drugs not yet covered by WADA? (skip to 6:50 of the vid)

NBA sched is just so brutal

I also have this opinion. However, there are some who float that Kai's management knows his career is not going to last long, so they make money as much as they can now. Don't you think these Kai dunks--which for me are counter-productive as his energy is better off being put to playing honest defense--are actually being encouraged by his management? Think about it what generates the most traction in his videos? Dunks and blocks right? It doesn't matter if he sucks the rest of the game if he gets a dunk or block for his viewers. Where did the phrase "Kai ginulat ang mundo" come from? Isn't usually when he dunks?

kai's career is being handled the same way julian newman's was handled early on - the only difference is that the american fans weren't gullible enough to keep trick, charade, con, etc. going

Dunking is ok,if necessary but for him,his legs are not as thick as tree trunks and dunking is always bad for the tall guys when they have to forcefully air up and comed down hard on those feet and knees.Alot of his bloggers thinks that he should do that more often to humiliated his opponents.I used to respect at least one blogger in his opinions and reporting, until he showed a picture of him and Kai and talking about meeting his family and management,at that moment "I knew he fucked up",he became their friends instead of an independent freestyle reporter.I just hope he develop more skills farther away from the basket to lengten his career and at this point Paolo,Chet and Wemby are way far ahead of him.

Rather than dunking, I think it’s guarding the perimeter and running around that has big men so injury prone. I mean dunking for 7 footers requires not much energy and the fall isn’t that high since they don’t have to go up that high to dunk the first place. With the modern faster game, 7footers have to run up and down and change directions quickly which can cause injuries and such.

                    • Most important skill for bigs is motor bro. Kai might not have it

                      • There is a reason why Koaume and AJ may be considered the most effective pieces for Gilas and not Kai. (Motor)

Realize Kouame had 5 steals in the 2nd half of Gold medal game !

I think stamina can be improved through training. Training your body for a "marathon" rather than a sprint also helps. However, if Kai and his trainers are focused more on his fast twitch muscles for those highlight plays then he'll never improve his stamina.

                            • yawn .... close this thread we all know the pecking order

                              aj
                              koaume
                              junmar

tamayo and baltazar are better suited to play power forward roles now

kai is simply trash and the sbp is better off using the kind of money to play kai on other players

seriously, do we even need him with aj, kouame and junmar around?

AJ can play PF/C. Kouame and Junemar are pure centers. Kai can't really defend Cs or PFs, doesn't rebound like those 3 and can't create for himself or shoot with consistency.

                                I don't think he'll be displacing anyone
