  • Spain and Canada had a hard time stopping KAT what more with Gilas , Kai is soft , Junemar is slow while Edu has a good defensive sense but might be too thin for KAT, if only CSTAND is eligible he will be our best bet to somehow man mark KAT he will not stop him for sure and he do not have the wingspan to bother KAT's shooting but to somehow pester him is enough, and he is well experience in pestering former NBA players in Jones and Nicholson though on the level of KAT

      • Standhardinger is a horrible defender. He just looks at his opponent and doesn't have it to even attempt to block shots.

Yup. Goorjan was actually complaining about CS’s pba style D. That wont fly in Fiba.

Plus and minis is not a good indicator. Off and Def rating mich better. I guess the coaching staff has this as one of their guide.

Our best bet on Kat are Edu and Jap. Let him be a driver and a post up player. He is a bigger threat with his long 3s.

              • Kat is the best shooting big in the NBA right now. I would rather see him put the ball on the floor than shoot beyond the three-point range.

That's up to our D though. Hard to force a guy to drive when he's always open.. Junemar and possibly Kai won't be able to keep up with his foot speed. I hope Jap doesn't play like a headless chicken again

I wonder though if we could take advantage of him on D. That's supposed to be one of his negatives in the NBA but he was supposed to be a really good defender in college

Why takeaway the glory of the Summer League vet away from him?Fans will clamor for Kai to go one on one against Kat on both sides of the court and Chot will let it happen anyways,to take away some heat from Kai's fans. There's just no way to stop Kat,the best bet is to disrupt the pass that's going to KAT,its up to the guards to be an annoyance at the point. It will not stop him but it will limit him from scoring at every turn.

I don't really buy this narrative that the reason why he looks lazy is because of his poor motor. Kai lacks willingness, he just doesn't have it. RDO and Ping for example, both aren't that tall and athletic but they're far better defender and rebounder than him.

Kai is the tallest in this team and also the worst rebounder. RDO needs to mentor this guy.

                      • I think it’s both things, Kai does take plays off because he knows his limitations, if he played hard 100% every play he’d run out of gas quickly, that’s why he has the poor motor and looks lazy, he isn’t able to keep that up the whole game and I’m sure even the coaching staff knows this. He plays to his strengths and what he’s good at rather than do what he’ll struggle with since this is to Winn it develop.

                        • I don't get why a poster here implies that Tab Baldwin is overrated. He is an accomplished coach in international basketball scene. We only even win on his team when he was coaching Lebanon and Jordan just once. Put him in another national, he will hand us another defeat the way Rajko Toroman handed us a silver medal finish in the SEA Games.

What are his strengths again? I don't think he'll ever develop that motor. What's the use of his skills if he cannot display them
