Everything about Kai, screams laziness. And the stats don't lie either.

The lack of motorskills was showing when he actually the same speed as the slow big man of Mexico,he could have torched that guy that's guarding him.Clearly the stamina issue is showing and there's no way he can play 20+ minutes a game.

Mexican bigs are like your typical Pinoy bigman. Josh Ibarra is like the bigger Jondan Salvador while Fabian Jaimes is just like Kerby Raymundo.

      • Italy will run circles against Kai, he’ll be lost in the defensive assignments due to that motor. DR will abuse his interior defense. At least Kai would be useful against Angola

It's OK. Everything now is just a learning experience. He is still young at 21. He will still improve and will eventually make it to the NBA.

Just forget everything that was said with him being a certified NBA pick, about him supposedly being better than Wiseman, Chet and Wemby when given a chance to play in the NBA setting. Let's just pretend we all got amnesia. We casual fans don't know anything about true basketball potential, only Wass and Ronzone knows it all. Kai will be the next Larry Bird after 10 years of learning the game in different countries and will end his legacy as the best big man of all time.

            • I dont think Kai is lazy as other posters had mentioned, but his motor and stamina is just messed up which leads to him looking like he's not exerting effort in the court. He really needs to work on this aspect of his game, and his window to the NBA is going smaller esp. that more younger and better players are emerging left and right,

I agree, Kai’s stamina seems to be the main issue I think just from his size and just natural, some people are able to naturally have energy for long periods of time compared to others, Steph Curry for example has insane endurance. I think Kai naturally just doesn’t have that kind of stamina.

                • KAI-GYM ERA
Been seeing lately of videos "21yo Kai Sotto in your local gym" lifting weights and everything (back spasm related therapy)...

Since KS always had that perception bout his "stamina/motor issue" - What kind of training and diet did he go through at NBL? Seems like he been there at Australia for 2-years, Did he improved his physicals there? his cardio?
basketball - wise, are teenagers and 20year old players not allowed to lift weights? stunt their growth or disrupt their muscle tissue or something? what age Giannis started building his muscles?

*I mean KS negatrons always throws the argument of Kai looking and moving lazy... but... is Kai "actually" lazy? "lazy" (year in US, 2years in Australia, months in Japan) and yet you still telling me he can't play 20minutes of motor basketball???

simply put, it's just his physical limitations. Anyway, players of the same height (and above) have the same issues, just look at how Boban is used sparingly, while the likes of Yao, Porzingis and Rik Smits are injury prone due to heavy minutes.

Nobody ever said he was lazy. Quote the post that says he is lazy as proof.

But Boban destroyed us in FIBA. He might not have enough stamina for NBA but it's enough for FIBA.

and the lack of innate will to play hard at all times (laziness) i.e playoff games in B-league playing limited minutes na nga lang..

During his stint in Summer league, there were so many instances where he'd rather point his teammate to defend instead of him closing out the shooter/ballhandler. Laziness isn't just physical limitation but also mental. If Kai is showing that in an actual game, what's more in practice? No wonder he doesn't get much playing time wherever league he goes.
