While FIBA rules call for a passport before the age of 16, it is relaxed in 3x3 wherein only a valid passport issued within a certain time period before the competition is sufficient.

If ever, we can use MHN on 5x5 games of Gilas whenever JC, JB and Kouame are not available.

Is Nzeusseu better than say CStan or Barefield?

Looks like this will also be our pool in the SEAG, the core of last year's Asia Cup fourth place team plus Jeff Manday, Jorey Napoles and Brandon Bates

        https://www.pba.ph/news/gilas-3x3-st...-fiba-asia-cup

A seven-man pool led by Almond Vosotros and Joseph Erioubu are now in the thick of preparations for the country's coming campaign in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup in Singapore slated this March.

With Vosotros (TNT) and Eriobu (Purefoods) in the pool are TNT players Samboy De Leon and Lervin Flores, Jorey Napoles of Cavitex, Meralco's Jeff Manday, and Brandon Bates of Platinum Karaoke.

Coach Lester Del Rosario (Pioneer Elastoseal) will handle the team once again and assisted by Patrick Fran (Meralco).

Vosotros, Flores, De Leon, and Eriobu were part of the Gilas 3x3 team mentored by Del Rosario that finished a fighting fourth in last year's FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup also held in Singapore.

The Filipinos lost to China in the battle for bronze, 20-18, in a campaign highlighted by their massive upset of top seed Mongolia in the quarterfinals, 21-20, behind the game-winning deuce of Vosotros.

The fourth place finish was the highest ever for the country in the continental competition.

Unlike the last time when Gilas 3x3 had to go through the qualifiers, the Filipinos are now seeded to the main draw as part of Pool D.

"Preparations started mid-November until before Christmas, once to twice a week. Then we resumed training last Monday (Jan. 23)," said Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) 3x3 program director Ronnie Magsanoc.

Gilas 3x3 is leaving for Singapore on March 30, as the qualifiers will be played from March 29-30.

A total of 16 countries divided into four pools of four teams each, are seeing action in the qualifiers.

If this is going to be the case, I think we should send players from other leagues, maybe the collegiate leagues, and even HS players. However, they should be under a good coach like Nenad or Charles.

So far, my list of non-PBA guys is as follows:

Guards: Jared Bahay, Jerom Lastimosa, Evan Nelle, Schonny Winston, Gian Mamuyac, James Spencer, Nic Cabanero, Miguel Oczon, Renzo Competente, Patrick Sleat
Wings: Caelum Harris, Jared Abadam, Cholo Anonuevo, Francis Lopez, James Nacua, Josh Coronel, Jacob Bayla, Enoch Valdez, John Barba, Jolo Manansala
Forwards: Mason Amos, Alex Konov, Josh Lazaro, Kevin Quiambao, Will Gozum, Allen Liwag
Bigs: Seven Gagate, Gab Demisana, Raven Cortez, Geo Chiu

Pretty deep pool. With a good NP and competent coaching, this lineup could have a shot.

I get Sikatrix's sentiment that this should be a chance for the 2023 team to build chemistry and cohesion, but many of the useful PBA guys (Japeth, Scottie, Brownlee, June Mar, Perez, Malonzo, Oftana) will still be in the playoffs less than a month before the SEA Games. Furthermore, the B.League boys (Thirdy, Carl, Dwight, Parks, Heading) will still be playing in their regular season. So, we really can't send the 2023 core without compromising training time. Plus, fatigue will be a factor.

SBP need to name a pool from players in the Philippines (or maybe in the KBL) as early as March. Need to practice by then. Defensive drills and all that, since defense (or lack thereof) is primarily how we lost last time, along with sending a pool of 6-7 useful players, of which only 4 (June Mar, Wright, Ravena brothers) were regulars in the rotation, the other 4 regular rotation players (Pogoy (although he made up for it in the last window), Troy, Mo, and Montalbo) being absolutely crap in that tournament.

I am not that MHN is better than those two. The only reason I put him into consideration is his availability.

              off-topic:
For me that statement of Retamar leaves a bitter pill to swallow (0:40), it’s all up to you guys if you think that statement are worthy enough why he is declining to play for the Philippine Men's Volleyball Team for the coming SEA Games..for me that line of reasoning is a trash.

However a new article has been released about the previous statement of Retamar about his alleged reason why he decided not to don the national flag..

Speaking to Inquirer, the Spikers Turf reigning best setter revealed that the team has stopped receiving allowances that pushed them to provide for their own during training, such as the budget for parking fees and drinking water.

With Kai signing for Hiroshima, no SEA games for Kai.

That is why I keep on saying that a CORE of young ineligibles(for now) is the ideal line-up for the coming SEA Games, the likes of Sedric Barefield, Remy Martin, Kai Ballungay, Chris Koon, Ken Tuffin, Michael Philips, BGR, Justine Brownlee, AK34 and Ron Harper Jr.(availability and PH Pass holder?) combine it with Justine Baltazar and AJ Edu are competitive enough if SBP are forming that so-called Revenge Team but unfortunately as per Com. Marcial a 1 Week preparation with those PBA players are likely to be our representative?.SBP how could you!!!!! Your really deserve to be part of that Walk of Shame. That proposed 1 Week formed team does not deserve to play even in the Bronze Medal match, Oh boy!! I really hope that this year?s SEA Game would be a big nightmare for our basketball stakeholders.

Since pba will adjust the season 48 and gov?s cup is being played in compressed sched, what?s the ample time (roughly in weeks) to prepare for the sea games?
                      Thanks guys.

6 days to 2 weeks. The PBA season is expected to end either in late April or early May.

I'd rather call up the collegiate and even players and have them train for a month or two, under a competent coach (Goldwin, Napa, Charles).

The toxicity of SBP and the Pabebe Women National team has already spillover on the Mens Volleyball team without(?) Bagunas, Espejo, Retamar and Malabunga because their favorite coach was not in the boat hence so many reasons and accusations on both sides.

that needs a deep investigation. all i read are mostly from Retamar. i dont even know why their coach was replaced. before he was replaced, did the players have the problem with funding or did this only come out after the coach was removed? someone neutral needs to look into this. which i doubt will happen if the NSA has a hand in the mess. if this is purely the former coach and the players, then appropriate sanctions should be handed.
