this shows we don’t have actually a “program”

if we do, SBP doesn’t need to worry about who we send in this tournament..

this what irks me with Gilas. im not ok but i understand if they wanted CTB gone. mid way 2021, I alright accepted there is a chance he'll be gone. but its the pool he made so we got players anytime games are needed that really hurts. they drafted some of the players without replacing them. binwesit nila yun players that was fortunate enough to be offered work in other countries. if SEA games is a hassle to form a team, i dare say add a player or 2 from other leagues just so we have an ongoing pool of players. doesnt matter if thats kyt jimenez or gerald anderson. what matters is we have a pool playing together every now and then. if someone gets drafted by PBA or gets a contract abroad, replace them from the pool. we can have Mighty or Strong or whoever partly bankrolling it and they can deep their hands on it. once many times do these teams play in a year anyway? 2 tournaments? and if PBA wants in? we just replace a few players. doesnt even need half of it. kahit main players lng. the whole bench would have chemistry and can carry one if the stars sit. win win for all. but thats a pipe dream now. we just have to wait for PBA to finish before we can have a team .
WE DON'T COUNT YEARS, WE COUNT CENTURIES

Just like what happened to the 3x3 team. Whatever the PBA covets the PBA gets. Our program is $hit because there's no real leadership, no actual plan and no unity. It hurts because most of the fans are knowledgeable and we know what's wrong.

Truly disappointing. PBA just loves to headline every international tournament there is for Gilas yet they still insist on very short preparations.

For now, the least they (PBA people) could do for this SEA games issue is to immediately identify players from non-playoff and QF-losing teams in late-March to early-April. They can only make forecasts for now on which those 8 teams would be but for sure, they can't expect BGSM and SMB to suffer early exits in the Governors' Cup can they?

            2023 SEA Games (Cambodia)

The 3x3 teams for the coming 32nd Southeast Asian Games should be handled by Chooks To Go Pilipinas because they know the sport better. The top ranked Filipino 3x3 players are all under Chooks while the best women players are with the Uratex Dream program of WNBL 3x3.

Oo nga, e. Baka naman, they'll just pick whatever veterans are available, even though they're not good in terms of FIBA play, and/or lack the upside for it. Just because they're good in the PBA doesn't mean it will translate to FIBA. Need players (and coaches) who will be good for FIBA.

What's more is that the SBP might not even consider players outside the PBA, such as promising players from the collegiate, and even HS levels, even though some may show more promise than many PBA vets.

              Hay nako, PBA.

We're better off giving game time to the likes of Mason Amos, Will Gozum, Kevin Quiambao, and Allen Liwag than to Vic Manuel, Ian Sangalang, Troy Rosario, Poy Erram, and Raymond Almazan. At least the former four still have youth and upside.

I dunno which young big can replicate Erram's and Almazan's rim protection, though. As poor as they are in FIBA, rim protection is still an asset.

We have to be fully aware that the host country Cambodia is doing all the tricks in the book as far as hosting rights are concern. Basketball is just one small piece of the problem, keep that in mind the previous announcement that all passport holders from their respective country they want to represent are qualified to play(its not about lineage here it’s all about legit passport). So the possibility that the host country will parade a very strong line-up on both Men and Women team because according to some insiders the host country are limiting the number of events to be participated by the other country and only the host country can parade a complete line-up on all categories and events especially in events like contact sports and e-sports where we Filipinos are very strong at. Therefore I won’t be surprise if Cambodia may end up second or third overall in terms of medal tally come SEA Games.

As much I would like to agree its the Tnt team that is better and the sea games 3x3 teams are using national team level players when they resort to one on one game the chooks team arent that talented individually to stop these guys..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

Cambodia has a large diaspora community to tap, mostly in the US, Canada, France and Australia, so it makes sense for them to use this vast resource. I wouldn?t be surprised if their SEA Games basketball team is majority Cambodian-American.

That is what their Mens team has been doing the past 3 stagings of the games, it's just that they have difficulties scouting 6'5 and above heritage players

Has Chooks stopped playing with an import? Is it true that they are preventing Mac Tallo from joining Converge like what Snow is insinuating?

The team has released Henry Iloka and Marcus Hammonds leaving only Mike Harry Nzeusseu.

However, they are working on MHN's naturalization which should be easier since he is already married to a Filipina and has been residing in the country for quite some time.

While FIBA rules call for a passport before the age of 16, it is relaxed in 3x3 wherein only a valid passport issued within a certain time period before the competition is sufficient.

It will take a minimum of two years I think if thats the path they chose(Non-congress) unless laws have changed. One year declaration of intent. One year after petition minimum before hearing for naturalization. So they might not make the Olympics unless this has been in the works for months at least.
