I will make a bold prediction on Mike Philipps: He is going to be a rebounding monster even in higher level competition.

    • And again, Gilas needs to workout on those 3-ball and FT’s.

isnt short sighted for me.. veterans mixed with young guys did we argue argentina with their undersized led by 40 year old sola when they almost won the gold last world cup..Whats short sighted is bringing brownlee and kouame together and can be arguable as sabi nga nila angge is locally bred na..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
        1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

The pessimist in me thinks that SBP/PBA just wants to make a show in the SEA games basket so we will forget that we will be trounced in the WC.
AJ and Phillips will really help in WC . , if MVP approached FIBA sec general to lobby for Phillips exception, I think it's really possible, given we are host, and the context of how old Mike moved and acquired citizenship more than 3 years ago.. strong case actually..

Mike needs a crash course in shot selection but make no mistake he is our smallball C and starter PF for years to come in Gilas. That rebounding tenacity is something we sorely need, like a 6'8 Abueva.

              • Mike Phillips is the revelation of the team. I hope he’ll be consistent in the crucial matches of the tournament.

                    Ross + 30 17 mins

Wasn't able to catch most of the game. But I'm excited to know how Jerom did. His stats are not that impressive. How would you rate his overall play?
the quickest guy on the team..good thing he isnt midget in ibn standards and has length to defend opposing guards

Played good defense, hit a three. Missed shots he usually makes. Pretty solid.

Appeasement as well. Not just the SBP, but many Pinoy fans want that gold back, even at the expense at exposing our youth. Walang ibang objective, e.

That's honestly the frustrating part. It's bad enough that our federation has no vision other than win the gold and the WC, but fans sharing that lack of vision. Man.

                        • A big revelation was Phillips, who was an energy bunny as he had nine points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and had five steals for Gilas Pilipinas.
                          5 steals!

                            • In other news, the Filipinas are in danger of dropping out of the competition. As of now, we won 3 points in 2 games. We need to win against Vietnam by at least 3 goals to advance to the knockouts.

                              Score's currently tied 1-1.

I'm just wondering, what if guys like Junmar, Japeth & Iskati Thompson were available for the SEA Games? Eh malamang we won't be having a Mike Philipps, Mason Amos & Jerome Lastimosa in this team right now. U bet coach Chot, the PBA & SBP will be in a "win now, forget about player development" mode if those players were available.
