To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

Whichever school can give a good balance of this would be able to sign the best recruits. It's all about the perception of the recruit that matters, not what so-called fans think about their school.

So, what I'm telling you is that although Ateneo has stricter academic policies, HS players tend to think otherwise. They think that since UP is the best school in the country that it has stricter academic demands. And yes, they think that Ateneo is stacked.

didn?t thirdy miss the QPI and that was before tab
Yeah, Thirdy had to sit out during Kiefer's last year.

And to be fair to him, I've heard the subject that made him miss the QPI was calculus

              • Former Stags James Una now with UST. I'll not be surprised if UST will raid the NCAA.

So SMC support came with Boss: https://tbti.me/s22ixc

I only hope they don't turn UST into the Letran seniors, which is almost the exact opposite of an ideal team in the Philippine setting with their 6'4"-6'6" bigs unable to defend the perimeter, and all wings but Guarino (who is 6'4") are below 6'3".

And hope they don't take away FSAs, who provide rim protection or wing or PF play, something Philippine basketball sorely lacks. In addition, bigger FSAs who play center might force the more mobile 196-203cm bigs to play 4 and get more used to playing that spot.

Thankfully, Pido's a more progressive coach in that he uses tall small ball where the 2-3-4 guys are wings. Hope he can produce more 196-201cm wings, and hopefully Gilas-quality ones too.

They certainly not. NCAA is far different from UAAP. In NCAA, only San Beda and Benilde have powerful backers. There are more than that in the UAAP (DLSU, UP, ADMU, NU and even AdU).

Before Chua and his goons can take an initiative against FSAs, they have to go through with the schools I have mentioned and their backers as well. UAAP is not like NCAA.

this, i dont think alfrancis can change the rules/playing field of the uaap since he had to deal with a lot of tycoons.I expect UST to raid NCAA’s talent pool (as mentioned in a earlier post) and probably tap cabagnot/danny siegle fil am connection for prospects

expect UST to be competitive in 2 yrs time, too bad jordi left he would have benefitted from Chua’s resources

Most UAAP teams are heavily-sponsored. I don't believe that they will ban FSAs because that will make their hands tied when it comes to strengthening their teams.

It’s easier to implement such ban in NCAA smaller and non-sponsored schools will outnumber the bigger and sponsored ones.

I don't think that Long Hair will have a leverage against Ateneo (MVP-backed), NU (Sy family), UP (Gokongwei/Remulla-backed), DLSU (Villavicencio/Razon-backed), UE (Tan family), and AdU (Akari-backed).

What Long Hair and UST can do is to strengthen their program within the existing rules and find an FSA of Brownlee caliber.

Yeah, strengthening the program to match or even exceed UP, La Salle, and even Ateneo can help. If Boss can use SMC's resources to help nurture good guards as well as versatile 196-201cm wings and tweeners that can be viable internationally instead of the types of wings and bigs in Letran, that might actually be a good thing for Philippine basketball moving forward.

The last success they had was with Ayo. Pido may have had his moments in North Port but he is no Ayo. On the other hand, stars flocking to UP or La Salle may now want to go a less crowded UST. However, in the past couple of years it has been Filfors who have been a difference maker. Ateneo's Koon, Ballungay, and their backup PG. UP's Lucero, Gallinato, Spencer. Las Salle's Mike and Schonny. UE's Villegas, the big wing and Stevens. Will they be able to leverage their connection to Cabagnot? Not sure about that.

It really depends on how much RSA wants to spend. But he definitely can outspend.
