Frankly, I'm not that impressed with Alao. If Robinson was good enough, then DLSU should have lined him up this season.... but they didn't.

First of all, they don't need to impress you to play ball. Secondly Geremy didn't have complete requirements before the deadline that's why he didn't play and the Alao you saw in FIBA was an injured one that's why he didn't play this season. Matter of a fact, he just got back to the court days after DLSU's campaign concluded.

idk if Dlsu right now has team b. Alao needs more reps so he can lose weight and get used to the college physicality. Sat 2 years of school ball cause of the pandemic . Thay is terrible for development yet alone a pg then he gets hurt so he misses another year. Thats a lot to catch up on. He didnt exactly light U18 under fire too

MVP group boosts the team for tax breaks and gives a little something on the side to players he's attracted to.

He'll be fine with the amount of tournaments Team A participates in. I would even say that may be Manong should prioritize health over game day reps. DLSU's crazy off season schedule saw them play 2 games in one day in Japan and play a D League and Fil Oil playoff game in one day. Add to that the full practices that saw them press 30 minutes multiple times a day. They were wobbled at the start of the UAAP season. It didn't surprise me they weren't healthy to end the season.

Saw them both play in Filoil. Alao is a pass first point guard and he is doing really well but needs to develop his offense, he misses a lot, that is the advantage of Penny over him.

Robinson I think played 1 - 2 games, did not really played well but maybe because he is still adjusting with the system or the Philippine style of play.

might be a surprise, but there are boosters who are not gay nor do they represent a corporation. i dont know if schools allow them to "donate" for the team. i can understand that this would be easier if what they give goes directly to certain players.

not going to say who, but a player who wanted to tryout with USTE did not have money to travel to Manila before. someone who was facilitating this tryout, reached out in one of the UST forums to ask for donations just to get him to Manila for get accommodations for max 2 nights and meals for it. some forumers gave money and after 2 weeks said player enrolled. he left a year later but i wanted to pointed it out that people will give just to see their team have a fighting chance. barya lng yun kwento. but think of the more well off alumni. whats a few thousands to help player\s stick to their school? they are not like the SMC or the MVPs who will give millions. and these boosters are not just a handful.

thats the same rumor with the Zobel De Ayala's when they handled Purefood. thing is, unless someone have actual proof, its just rumors. just because someone has sexual preference to someone with his\her same sex, doesnt mean they'll do what the rumor is implying. not saying they wont, but burden of proof is with the accuser.

Well, there are plenty of eye witnesses for such claims. My company's driver used to drive Benji Paras the moment he stepped in the PBA til he got with his then-wife. He told stories that Benji and other players would entertain certain people in exchange for money, food & drinks. He knows cos he benefited from it too. LMAO.

Heard plenty more of rumors and heck if you were close with players, they'd tell you themselves.

Just like most of the other schools, they have a pool of players. Unlike in years past where there is a clear Team A and Team B, there isn't a clear line anymore. There's a pool and the coaches choose from that pool who will be lined up in the UAAP. I suppose those that do not get chosen are what you would call "Team B".

DLSU needs a PG who can facilitate the offense well, and shoot well. That's what Nelle, Padrigao, Cagulangan and even Baclaan are. Estacio is a great shooter, but not (yet) a great facilitator. Alao is the opposite.

Thing is Estacio could very well be a good passer but he cant put enough pressure on the defense to make then collapse to make the pass. He cant go north to south with the ball enough and create in the half court . If it improves with getting stronger and getting better handles is all you can hope for. Padrigao is an expert at keeping the dribble alive and finding the angle to pass or shoot. Easily the best young PG prospect

the few I know, only go out on dates, watching movies and eating out. but some rumors says they exchange something more. and again, Im not saying these are false. but we cant assume that something does happen more than dates. ill leave it at that because i dont have, and dont want to have, first hand info on such things.

going back to topic, yes, there are boosters who will give some money to the team to get certain players or have extra allowance to keep certain players. why? we can all guess but not all of them have extra curriculum activities in mind.

reminds me of Vice Ganda giving a uaap mvp a hummer+condo unit and another uaap mvp with a condo unit+kabuhayan package for that player's wife. Spongkies preying on tamaraws forced their coach back then, nash racela, to transfer the entire team from morayta to diliman(aside from the binondo mafia issue)

agree with C2hamm, boosters are not necessarily going for tax breaks or a Jeffrey Epstein/Harvey Weinstein. Some of them just loves the game of basketball.

This motivation separates boosters like Wangs Basketball to John O Juicers (PBL team of former senator John Osmena)
