He's going pro. From the looks of it, his only destination in Asia is the PBA or Taiwan. He can only play in Japan if he has played for Gilas as a local.

For me, if the target is pba, he should have just used up that last playing year.

          • In my opinion I think BalIungay probably got an offer from somewhere, usually big name players only leave the UAAP early if they have a standing offer from a foreign pro league.

              • If his goal is the PBA, maybe he can join a developmental league like the NBL1 first while waiting.

Except jerome had offers to play to korea or japan. While balunggay i think cant play as a asian quota player for either leagues. Only practical place to go as sir IPC has said is pba, which in itself isnt high in terms of salary or taiwan.

He has to skip his last playing year if he is to enter the 2024 PBA Draft. Unlike NCAA, once UAAP player joins draft (which is usually held before or during the UAAP season) they are no longer eligible to play.

Yes i know, my point is what's the highest rookie salary cap for pba teams tho? 200k a month? That's if he even goes to smc or mvp teams, other teams may not reach that high of an offer. He might be better off with MVP's and all the other boosters' perks in ateneo with its players.

                      • Them dudes use the UAAP for connections in the PBA. Hawaii isn’t as small as it’s portrayed to be. It’s an even smaller community of players in that PBA circle and part of it are those UAAP scouts who liked them enough to take them out of their D2 benchwarmer misery. I still find it amazing how people in 2023 insist on that student-athlete bullshit, unable to see PBA written on a young player’s forehead.

Yeah but maybe he's just homesick or something. He got married fairly recently too.

is kai a very good 3x3 player to team with almond..and Ramirez.. we need a strong 3x3 team next year
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
                            1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

                            • PBA or taiwan, ballungay's only way to get to korea is if his american mother somehow manages to get a philippine passport

                              • I'd bet that Kai B. goes to a B2 or B3 League team as a 3rd world import. Wouldn't be a bad destination at all if that's the case.
