To be precise, we (I'm from UP, I have studied here for the past 8 years) played in three UAAP Finals in four seasons.

Our success has been just one championship. A big one, yes, but we need to contend for years. Developing talent, especially diamonds in the rough, has to be a key point too. Until we bring sustained winning and development, the detractors won't go away.

I'm not worried about UP's talent pool especially now that they're heavily funded. Bo Perasol deserves major props as UP's program director.

I felt that's where Perasol would excel when he was coaching, he seemed a better fit there. He's done well as our manager. Now he's the head of sports for the entire UP system (Diliman, LB, Cebu, etc.).

Goldwin has been good too as our head coach. Beat Tab in Season 85, and took him to 3 in Season 86. Honestly, should be an option for the Gilas coaching pool with his defense. Now he's in charge of the UPIS program, so I hope that leads to development on that front.

As for talent, I feel we've done well in recruiting. What we need work on is developing homegrowns and raw prospects. The detractors will focus on those aspects for UP, just seeing them for recruiting (which honestly does have some merit).

The detractors are salty because for the longest time, they only have their cute little Ateneo-La Salle rivalry to watch and cheer for with UST, NU, and FEU winning once in a while. Now they have to worry about UP which is basically getting blue-chippers left and right and has proven that they can go toe-to-toe against Tab. La Salle has been impacted by UP's rise in particular. I don't think La Salle has won a playoff series against UP in 4 or 5 years. Heck, La Salle has basically recruited the entire Phillips clan and they still couldn't beat UP.

              • This kind of acquisition is what long hair exactly wants to impress Boss RSA Shades of Terence Romeo. Aquiring assets from rivals and using it against them. If this transfer materializes then its definitely on. The MVP vs SMC saga begins in UAAP.

This kind of arrogance from UP fans is exactly why fans of other UAAP schools have united together against UP fans in particular. One championship and their fans act like their system is the best one right now. News flash: 3 finals in 3 years is still a far cry from:

DLSU's 13 finals appearances in 15 years starting from Season 57

                    or

ADMU's 11 finals appearance in 14 years starting from Season 71

I haven't even looked at UST or FEU, but UP's recent success won't hold a candle to the success of those two programs either.

So until UP's success is sustained like the schools I mentioned, maybe tone down the arrogance a bit?

Get back to me when La Salle wins a single playoff game against UP and we'll talk. Anyway, La Salle fans can always talk about the past and watch starting from season 57 and celebrate and talk about the good old days. LMAO

                        • More humility should be expected from the one-win-bonfire team....
