To be fair he was the mastermind of 2015 title run together with the bonuses, 2016 onwards, different story, ayo left, Pacquaio ran for a national position..
Letran was strong in 2015 but this was the season where NCAA is at its peak 2 imports per team Scottie Thompson with Bright Akhuetie should be a finalist in any ncaa seasons outside 2015, Allwell oraeme is that good, Poutochi is decent..No way a basketball fan can think that Letran can go that far even go to final 4 on "paper"
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
    1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Alao then Marasigan are now both with DLSU. Btw, what happened to the 'case' both camps were filing?

Not really sure why he left Letran and when he stopped supporting their program. But based from the talks from inside Baste circle, he looked to support another collegiate team because SMC came on board at Letran back in 2018/2019 and took full control of the program. What’s sure is he was with them when Aldin Ayo gave a championship to Letran in 2015.

Also, even though he lost a lot of money during the last elections, he’s not broke. He is still Chairman and CEO in MPBL. Coz apparently he committed to support not just the basketball program but the entire sports program of Baste. Why would he do that if he’s running out of cash?

Nevertheless, Baste was surviving even without a major backer. But very far from what it used to be. I believe if that exodus of players did not happen and the likes of Muyang, Mark Sangalang, Renzo Navarro, Jayson David and other players who left during the time of Macaraya stayed, I believe at least one championship could have happened. Just imagine the likes of Calisaan, Bulanadi, Ilagan together with those players who left. And they came on board on Baste without a major backer. Baste still gets alumni support for their program but not the same level of MVP and SMC during that time.

But having a major backer is definitely a welcome boost for Baste’s program. Resources is the name of the game now in college hoops. It’s hard to land bluechip recruits nowadays without resources. It’s not like how it is during the 90s.

We’ll just have to see how it will affect Baste’s program and how it will change the landscape in NCAA.

Add Nacua who was seen in the seat right behind DLSU's bench during their last few games. Apparently, Nacua and Earl Abadam both have the same handler.

not surprising, both are from AU and plays on the same team I think.

Dungo is also with Phenom. His dad is a Bedan. Dungo I guess is staying, he has been with the new team under coach Miko Roldan. Also 16-and-under wizard Joaquin Wagan is with Phenom. He is attending some of the preseason games along with Sollano.

The seniors from Phenom; Vhoris Marasigan, John Morales and James Nacua were absent from the Red Lions and Red Cubs thanksgiving mass and christmas party of the Red Cubs. May be on vacation or have left the team?

It would have been very hard for that team to win the championship let alone enter the F4. They would have had to go through Bolick, Scottie, Jio etc. Heck the CJ, De Vera, Guinto team was way more talented and went nowhere

I hope NCAA teams eventually adjust, either in tactics or in player recruitment and development. Charles Tiu is a breath of fresh air with regard to his tactics, although he didn't coach the best game in Game 3. Hope the other teams can adopt international styles, in tactics and/or in roster constructions (taller, more mobile and versatile in the perimeter, but maybe just as physical). You can still marry an international system with physical play, e, like Aussie and NZ.

Dungo's dad is also a politician who happens to be with the same political party of a bedan mayor.

I disagree. The 2019 team of Baste made it to F4. Add to that mix Larry Muyang, Mark Sangalang, Renzo Navarro, Jayson David and all those who left. For sure, it would have been a more formidable team back then. What I do agree though is that a championship is not a sure thing even if those players stayed back then. But we could definitely have a knack on it. That’s what I’m sure. The case of CJ Perez was a different thing, not really sure why he was let go by the management back then. If he was still part of the team, that could have produce wonders for Baste. Well well, that’s a thing of a past.

Anyway the reason why I made that statement is because I was just trying to point out that Baste was surviving even without a major backer. But add a major backer to it, it would definitely be a big boost to its program. That’s all I’m trying to say.

yes for some reason Baste always finds a way to be somehow competitive. even when they're not making the final four they're no scrubs

Yes. I think the problem during the time of Macaraya was his coaching style. The rotation was super lousy. He’s subbing players who are doing the scoring for him. It still puzzles me as to why he’s coaching style was like that. And I think it’s the same case as La Salle. The coaching style of Macaraya is old school. The coaching has changed a lot since their time. That’s why I’m somehow happy that we got a younger mentor now. But I would have preferred Cabiltes over Kallos. I would have love to see Cabiltes’ run and gun style of play on the Golden Stags.

We know Vhoris and James are DLSU bound but are committed to play their HS hoops with the Red Cubs but what about John Morales? Any rumors where he'd headed to? Also, is there a scouting report for him?

Liwag leaves EAC, and wants to transfer to either CSB or Beda: https://tbti.me/s22ij5

CSB has the inside track on him, as Liwag plays for Jacob Lao's team in the PSL. Jacob's dad is a CSB backer.

Wherever he may go, I hope he develops as a tweener or combo forward, or even a wing, and not just as a big. He has some upside, domestically and maybe internationally.
