Yes... Last 2022 FIBA Asia, Indonesia was given by FIBA a choices where they want to be grouped at... They choose group A that alongside KSA (that they won), Jordan (they just lose only 9 pts) and Australia... For sure they will do the same for Saudis.. they will pick a group that they can manage to win games as many as they can... We are also benefit too when we host the world cup last year, we just allocated automatically in POT 1 and reserved ourselves in Group A....

Maybe yes, maybe no... But in the end, if we want to be a champions of Asia, we should beat Australia no matter what... Australia will just send team C players in FIBA Asia cup... So there is a chance to beat them right away...

      • that is why beating NZL convincingly on the coming Nov window is a must if we want to start the narrative of how to beat AUS Team C come FIBA Asia 2025

if that happens those Oceania teams will surely wake-up there senses

because were closing the gap and we will be relentless( I do hope).

I think we can beat NZL now... We just able to beat Latvia, who is better than NZL (despite no KP for Latvia)... We have the size now to match up with them.. hopefully Edu is available in November...

          • As for Hong Kong game, we should give more minutes for Amos, Quiambao and some youngsters that CTC will recruit... Guys like Ramos, Kai, Brownlee are not needed against weak Hong Kong team

I'm confident that if Gilas gets at least 10 days of training prior to the game vs. New Zealand, we'll finally beat the Tall Blacks, but it won't be easy. It would also help if we have about 2 tune-up games prior to the 2nd window. Ang problema, would we have at least 10 days of practice before facing the Tall Blacks.

Sadly, I don't think we'll be seeing any youngers in the team aside from Amos, KQ, Kai, Tamayo & AJ Edu.
But I agree with you, against Hongkong, it would be the perfect opportunity to give major minutes to Amos & KQ.

Maybe against some tough overseas ballclubs can do... Maybe Hong Kong eastern Lions or Singapore slingers are good preparation matches vs NZL...

Where do you base those assumptions?

                      Asia Cup is Asia Cup.

Host is KSA and they are the only ones automatically qualified.

If Qatar were already automatically qualified for the Asia Cup, then we would have known already.

The games against India in the ACQ will be the deciding factor.

                      WC is different.

Just check at Wikipedia... Qatar, alongside Saudi already qualified for world cup qualifiers...

                          Sir Gian,

because that game would be my personal gauge on how our Gilas Team A had achieve so far using CTC's battle plan.

if they could replicate the work rate during the LAT game at the expense of the Tall Blacks then we had a small chance of defeating AUS Team C

but if we will be defeated by NZL by a single digit then same thing with AUS.

that is why that window game is crucial to assess if Gilas is really consistent playing against those on top of the food chain.

we do hope that the recent injury of AJ are not that severe

because realistically we cannot maximize his presence for that game

our 4 and 5 spots are not yet ideal as per expectation.

                          • Edu will be the key for the NZ game. He is going to make life easier for Kai and Junemar.

That’s simply means Saudi is in the WCQ.

Qatar can fail to qualify for the ACQ but will participate in the WCQ.

                              My assumption here is:

Only the first 15 entrants to the Asia Cup will enter the WCQ if Qatar fails to qualify for the Asia Cup. That means the 16th place Asia Cup team won’t make it.

Or they will get final spot via one of two best 3rd placers in western region... other two 3rd placers are Iraq and likely Syria.. I think Qatar will beat one of either Iraq or Syria... Qatar will likely beat India too in their group...
