So no budget to get the filam nation team to play for us last year? Or EZ Mils dad shouldered it all?
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
    1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

no idea about that but if EZ mils did shoulder even some of the expenses.... then we should always allot 1 slot for someone's son. hahahah

Didn't some of U16 players was funded by SBP and course thru FilNation. Also NBTC paid majority of expenses of international participants

Funded by Ateneo or college teams so taht they can recruit them? So it miht be true that u16 teams budget depends on the quality of the prospects that is playing..

SBP spending sure, thats part of their responsibility. i dont have evidence for the others so I cant say. nor do i want to know. i would like to say thank you to whoever did as it helped the team.

SBP partnership with NBTC or Filam Nation

"Madness in MOA" makes a comeback as 24 teams converge at the Mall of Asia Arena for the 2023 Smart-NBTC National Finals slated on March 15 to 19.

Look at FilNation instagram how they are helped by SBP even Coach Chot

Schools / managers ang nagbabayad ng airfare and finders' fee / commission for ELITE prospects sa US based organizations / coaches. They're not doing it out of the kindness of their heart. Yung borderline players, US parents ang nag shoulder ng expenses in hopes that a Philippine school will reimburse them in exchange for commitment.

This happens more than people think. Just look at how stacked Bronny Jr's club and hs teams are. Lots of wealthy (usually former athletes) spend to give their kids a leg up. Even Mikee Romero used to be a player and was actually pretty good.

On the issue of schools spending for prospects travel expenses, that may be true for those that are already identified. But for the prospects that are not discovered by other schools, they usually want those guys to stay hidden and limit their exposure. That's why there are always players who "surprise" the public, but the schools who recruited them are actually savvy.

but i replied to the national youth team. im not against it, im just not aware the dynamics of it. remember with past teams, whoever the coach was, poached the players in the youth team to whatever school the coach was part of. with Coach Josh being independent from any schools, it looks like it solved that poaching problem. which a lot of us here has called for. an independent coach. yun lng, i think most still want a diff coach but... baby steps for now i guess.

You're right baby steps. It all boils down to funding or the lack of it. We have to constantly make compromises because we still need help from those with interests.

Gilas U16 plans before flying to Doha, I hope DDO Jr. had plans to upgrade his lineup during the propose training camp otherwise our boys will be abuse to no end with that midget lineup. I ain’t despising anyone on that lineup(they are good kids) but please just being realistic no more 5’5 kid come FIBA U16 tournament proper. We’ve been fed enough of so many soap box stories and moral victories from different platforms so hopefully they would parade a much better lineup.
as I said before, retaining the core of 6’2 Kiefer Alas, 6’1 CJ Amos, 5’11 Irus Chua, 6’4 Edryn Morales and 5’10 Elihjah Williams is highly recommended and surround them with several 6’5 to 6’6 kids who can play the perimeter that’s fair enough considering our 6’8 and above kids that was identified before are still in the infancy period as far as basic basketball skillsets are concern.

We had decent(local) kids in the HS domain who are in 6’4 to 6’5 level that I think are fair enough(not outstanding yet) to play at the U16 level but other than that none.

Sino? Kindly name your recommendations. The only possible local kids for me are 6'4 Pasinos, 6'3 Jimenez and 6'5 Jaime GDL.
