  • Japan U-16 seems like same height as PHL U-16. But tallest bro is only 14 y.o.

Another sayang. SBP coulda shoulda capped JJ Mandaquit last year and inserted him in U-16 even if he's like only 15 y.o. (last year's batch was actually 17 and youn er because of the pandemic) . USA Basketball capped him this year

      • Sir Dotch/Reamily, there is still a window of opportunity for both 16 yr. old JJ kid and 17 yr. old Dylan Harper to play for Gilas and getting exempted despite playing in a sanctioned tournament like FIBA Americup U16 for JJ and FIBA World U19 for Dylan, assuming both the National Federation agreed before the Sec Gen stamp his/her mark of approval and possible Administrative Fee may impose. Reference: FIBA Internal Regulation Book 3(rev. 26 Mar. 2022) Players with Two or More Nationalities with Previous Registrations, Article 19 a,b i, ii, iii; Article 20.c-d; 21-23; Article 74.e

Because Double J already obtained his PH Passport before his 16th birthday he had the option to play Batang Gilas U16 if ever they secure a ticket for next year’s World U17 at Turkey from June 29 to July 7, 2024. But it’s very unlikely for now because he is one of the major cogs why Team USA for claimed the Americup U16 and the only remaining option is to play for the senior team before he reach the age of 23 otherwise he will be forever tag as naturalized if ever he change allegiance. As per previous online interview(youtube platform) he confirmed that he is willing to don the national team in the future but he doesn’t know all the details and intricacies of the FIBA ruling for changing allegiance at the young age.

Same thing with Dylan, if only someone from our National Federation are seriously enough to pursue and assist the kid to obtain a PH Passport this early it will not be a major issue according to his Filipina Mother Coach Maria Pizarro a former Div. 1 player from New Orleans Univ and Ron Sr., in fact, during one of the online interview the mother being an advocate of womens basketball was asked if ever theirs an offer to coach a girls team she will not hesitate to pack her things and aboard the very first available flight to come home. That’s another sweetener for both the Harper boys if ever it happens.

Yes Sir, I think the negotiation should start ASAP while those two kids are still in their daisy years and the purpose is for them to be included in the pool for the 2027 up to 2031 FIBA World Cup cycle. I hope we could also entice the 6'4 Vyc Miller a 4 Star recruit for the said pool as well, considering basketball USA hasn't invited the kid on any of the sanctioned tournament.

Playing in China I believe, tried for nba was athletic but had shorter wingspan by nba standards and his defence and shooting wasn’t good.

Look who’s the SBP president. That speaks volumes.
