great game by SMB, finally show adjustments in their defense as they were active in the perimeter which resulted to poor 3pt shooting for BAD. Sucks that Zhu got injured, he was making life difficult for JMF at the post

MVP reveals corruption inside PLDT. Questionable deals estimated at P48 billion in the last four years discovered.
MANILA, Philippines — “Certainly, we’ve taken a knock on our reputation. We pride ourselves on governance, on disclosures, and we’re gonna get a knock. We have a job in trying to recover
This will probably have an effect on MVP teams in the PBA; TNT, Meralco, NLEX.

I hope the PBA implements the restricted trading list rule
TAKE TIME TO READ!
2006 when RTL or Restricted Trading List was proposed in the PBA and implemented in 2007. What could have been if it was still implemented in today's generation.
Full Story:
THE Philippine Basketball Association is coming up with a major guideline governing players? trade to avoid effecting one-sided deals that stalked the league in the past.
The PBA Board recently approved the passing of the Restricted Trading List or the so-called RTL in which teams can trade their best players one-on-one.
Under the rule proposed by Commissioner Noli Eala, two marquee players from the 10 competing teams, based on their skills (statistical points), salaries, longevity (years of experience) and marketability, shall be listed under the RTL.
Players included in the RTL are the only ones who can be traded to each other or a combination of either a player or rights, provided there is always a player included in the RTL as part of the consideration.
Players listed in the RTL could also be traded for any of the top two picks in the Rookie Draft, although freshmen are not qualified to be included in the list. The practice, Eala added, will only be allowed in the next three Rookie Drafts.
?After months of deliberation, the Board of Governors have agreed to pass the Commissioner?s proposal to create a restricted trading list with the objective of ensuring a fair and balance trading among teams,? Eala stressed.
The RTL has been recommended to the Board by the commissioner during the last annual PBA Board meeting in Macau but was only approved recently.
Eala said he came up with the RTL since ?it is very difficult to gauge the trade based merely on quality and quantity because each teams has a philosophy.?
The proposal gained solid grounds shortly after the controversial three-team, seven-player trade involving Ginebra, Air21 and Coca-Cola during the off- season. The deal saw the Kings landing marquee players Rafi Reavies, Billy Mamaril and the rights on Rudy Hatfield.
Although it was not a perfect trade, Eala emphasized it was legal.
The RTL also has its precedent, Eala noted, recalling how the league earlier restricted the trading of big men Ramon Fernandez, Abet Guidaben and Manny Victorino among the three of them to ensure the competitive balance in the PBA.
Besides eliminating the perception of imbalance trades or outright cash buys-outs of players, the RTL also ensures that no team can load up on marquee players while likewise guaranteeing the marketability of all ball clubs.
Only the commissioner has the sole discretion to select and appoint the top two players from each team who will be covered by RTL.
The commissioner also has the right to increase, if he deemed so, the number of players to be incorporated within the list.
The RTL takes effect beginning January of 2007, but initially would involve only just one player per team.
Its full implementation starts during the 2007-08 season.
But the RTL also has its flexible side, according to Eala.Last edited by PaulLee3; 12-20-2022, 07:00 AM.

Bay Area is the fourth guest to reach the PBA Finals, joining Emtex Brazil (1977 Invitational), Nicholas Stoodley (1980 Invitational) and Northern Consolidated (1985 Reinforced).
Stoodley and NCC went on to win the championship

I was rooting for SMB but at the back of my mind I was thrilled at the prospect of GIN vs BAD finals. I think this is a win for the fans save for those of SMB. I think GIN matches up better because they have two quality bigs and are longer across the forward spots. Both imports should cancel each other out in terms of impact so I think this boils out to the rest of the team?s performances.
I believe the Gin Kings are deeper in talent and I am predicting they?d take the trophy in 6.Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

While the 6-foot-10 big man used to dominate opponents, his size and heft advantage got taken away against Bay Area, which features a towering lineup that includes 7-foot-5 center Liu Chuanxing and 6-foot-10 former NBA player Andrew Nicholson.
Fajardo said he needs to work on spreading the floor when going up against bigger foes.
“I need to improve my perimeter game because I cannot just overpower them because they’re also big.”
