And their dud head coach was back as well. No wonder they got blownout by 19 pts.

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Why PBA level of basketball are very low level compare to other leagues overseas?
Ginebra, Phoenix, and NorthPort matched up better with the Dragons than with SMB and TNT, who both got blown out by the Dragons. Teams I mentioned, they're better fits for the EASL.

No wonder SMB got blownout by 19 pts. George Gallent has been doing well coaching SMB lately. Even if SMB lost to Bay Area in game 1, it was a very close game. In fact SMB was leading for most of the time.

Let's be honest, kaya lang naman nag champion ng ilang beses ang SMB with Leo Austria is becoz it has a super loaded line up while most of the other PBA teams are so weak. But when faced by a foreign team with a good line up & well coached, Leo Austria's incompetence as coach is clearly being exposed.
Everyone knows it. And it's mostly Junemar. Him not being close to his old self is problematic

That's good, atleast having 2 imports will put them atleast a competitive team there, With this current situation of both teams, Both will be laughing stock of that tourney (EASL) and make PBA looks bad, not just in local scene, But international basketball community as well....

            • Bay area might win it all in easl with their lineup
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
              1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

              • I am a BGSM fan but for now I want BAD to win the championship in a lopsided manner as wake up call for the league itself, If ever it happens I hope coach Brian and his team will be a regular fixture for future Commissioner Cup and hopefully including the Governors Cup as well.

If this happens, I expect PBA to save face. I can see that they will enforce their eligibility rules (must have complete citizenship documents) upon BAD that will limit them in fielding their heritage players (eto pa naman yung mga magagaling beside their wolrd imports).

                  • i think the main problem of SMB is having a role player import than a go to guy, yes they have a good local lineup but if the other matches pretty well against their local it will boil down on how good their import will play, if that Marcus Weathers is good as advertised i think it's better to try him on game 3

                    • Fans inside the venue and those watching in TV doesn't care about the smb and bay area series.

It's all about the ginebra and magnolia series they love to cheer as evidence of massive fans support of these two teams.

                        Which is sad tbh.

I am extremely jealous of the sort of fandom football clubs have like Real Madrid and Bar?a. The PBA just doesn’t resonate with fans outside of Ginebra and San Miguel.

Because PBA focus on team's side, Not on players' side... In NBA, they focus to market those players, especially superstars... That's why fans following the players rather than the team.. Ex: Lebron when plays for Cavs and Heat, fans are following Lebron than the team itself, when he leaves, the fan following drops... Look how the market Victor Wembayanma today even he's not yet in the league? He's already popular even w/o NBA team picks him... PBA doesn't have that marketing tool... PBA only focus on Ginebra, that's why other teams' popularity drop... Guys like Ramos, Rivero, Paras, Ravena bros can save the league thru using their popularity since their college days, But PBA have no idea how to do that... My Fil-Chinese friend in Ermita tell me why PBA dropped their popularity even thou basketball is the no.1 sport here, It's that because people who handling the league doesn't know how to market the league as whole... He likes how PBA was handled before... He was graduated at UE and follows James Yap... Commissioner Eala did a great job market the league, He focus on players' marketing side, than the team.. No wonder why the likes of Santos, Yap, Pingris, Villanueva, Cardona, etc... are still popular than most of current generation of players today...

Good win for SMB. At last, the Beermen finally beat Bay Area Dragons. I thought Bay Area would sweep SMB in the semis.

A Bay Area key player got injured late in the game. He might not suit up in Game 4. This is a big break for SMB

Big loss, as Zhu is doing the Japeth role of attacking Junmar's lateral D.
