I hope the legendary Allan Caidic is going to open his own 3 points shooting school.

Oftana finished the game with 20 points while going spotless in the free throw line (9/9).

The guy (Javi GDL) that was traded for the 2nd overall pick (Gray) wound up with 4 points in his debut.

        Phx-SMB early notes:

1.) Tyler Tio starting for PHX, hits a 3pointer immediately
2.) I like slim Junmar, more mobile, how I wish he was this slim early on his career
        3.) SMB didnt retire Olsen's #17 , same with Ato Agustin's #6

So Kots Leo giving Junmar the freedom to shoot from deep?

The six-time Most Valuable Player on Wednesday has pledged monetary donations to charity in cooperation with the league.

Fajardo said that he will donate P200 for every point that he will score this season, and P1,000 for each three-pointer he’ll convert.

He has also promised P100,000 should San Miguel reach the Finals.

Good game for Oftana and the team. But make no mistake they could have easily lost. Ramos still can score. Juami also. Munzon has been shooting bricks outside but playing good D. If he starts making 3s, Terra Firma might become a darkhorse.

Encho Serrano tearing it up. Makes a lot of teams regret not getting him.

imagine if wright, pogoy or rosario would have the same pledge, the charity would be deep in debt

kidding aside, hope kots leo would give fajardo the go signal, jmf has the shooting touch imo

Phoenix has a very decent roster with Wright, Perkins, Serrano, Mocon, Tio and Lalata. Way better than Converge and probably better than Globalport and NLEX.

They are just too undersized in the middle.

Dominant game from the lighter Junemar 24 pts 15 rbs 6 ast 3 blks. Makes you wonder how better he would have been if he was lighter in his prime. Good game also for Serrano and Tio. Competitive games like this and good players will make PBA relevant. Foreign leagues cannot absorb all the good PH ballers and the Fiba ineligibles.

                    • tio and serrano played well in their first game. smallish backcourt along with melecio though phoenix lead guards in jazul and garcia are kinda old already.

While he's still no Embiid nor Jokic, i think he would have developed an all-around offense with a much better perimeter game, while sacrificing his uber-dominance in the paint but still miles ahead of his homegrown counterparts. Not sure about his perimeter defense though. Perhaps it would have been slightly better especially guarding pick and rolls?

Changing of the guard for PHX, it looks like it.

Would you believe that some people here are against the idea of JF shooting 3's? And coach leo be more creative? Yep..

I kind of get the aversion because it's just so uncommon for PBA guys 6'10" and above to have a perimeter/outside game, well, save for some of the imports from the past seasons. We got so used to JMF's inside dominance and it being the reason for SMB's past successes, too. Another thing pertaining to their game earlier, he was granted the chance to shoot from the outside because of PHX's lack of a dominant rebounding bigman, giving Kots Leo opportunity to experiment.

With the exit of Calvin then Justine, Phoenix lost a lot of offensive wallop. Looks like Tyler and Encho are exactly what the doctor ordered for them. I'm not sure that Jayvee is ready to fill in MW's role. He still needs to adapt to the SF role. He is far from Wright as a shooter and a ball handler. Wright seems to have added a killer perimeter jumper to his arsenal. He even hit a banked shot over Junemar. Is his contract until the AFC only?
