In an ideal setup, that should have worked in favor of Mikey. I guess, the PBA and its fans aren't ready for another Rookie-MVP winner, more specifically if the guy's foreign-developed.

Scottie Thompson was more media friendly than Mark Caguioa. I think Nap Gutierrez hated Mark Caguioa that's why MC was only voted in the PBA Mythical first team in 2008 despite averaging 21 and 24 ppg in 2006 and 2007.

If that is the case Mikey shouldve won. AFC supposedly weighs more. But yeah a Filfor winning rookie MVP is difficult in the PBA. Homegrowns are usually favored here.

The AFC is the real test actually. There is no Brownlee that pulls in attention. If Scottie flops here the MVP would be a bit embarrassing. His lucky Mikey is in a contract dispute. If I were Mikey I will prove the voters wrong.

Well the stats are close. I guess if we are to be objective about it any of the 3, Scottie, Mikey or Bollick could've won it. It's just the media votes are so overwhelmingly for Scottie. They should know that it was Mikey who was carrying his team and Scottie was more of a good complementary player to Brownlee. But I guess we will see in the AFC. If Scottie can't be the main guy for his team we know who the real MVP is. It is similar to Arwind's MVP. For the BPC it was him and June Mar who were close. But anyone who watched that conference would say even as a rookie it was June Mar who carried that team in that conference and Arwind was more of a distraction in the playoffs, complaining about his reduced role. Then for the MVP IRC it was Castro who led the stats. But with SMC clout, Arwind won the votes. But Arwind never won a BPC again. Although he was a key guy in their 5 peat. It was clear who carried the team.

Hhhmmm!!! How will TNT response to this? Big problem for TNT management... Maybe he's asking 1.5 million per month or more.... If i were TNT, I will adjust.. pull out those players who are on max contract but underperform like Pogoy, So that they can give more than salary that he wants... This is reality, All parts of the professional basketball world doing this... They can find Pogoy like players but much cheaper price than letting go of Mikey... Cmon TNT!!! He give your franchise a championship after 6 years beating bitter SMC rivals then you didn't give his favor....

Mikey deserves more money especially with his age. He has already proven himself to be a winner.

What i know is he signs 2 year contract last year, although he can request salary increase in case they won championship (w/c they did last year)... Because he has to play that remaining 1 year contract before he decides to leave or change teams... Unless he will do ala Kiefer, but Kiefer is a special case situation and i don't think it will not repeat again....

Mikey obviously a mercenary, but can he get another contract outside of the Philippines or will be FIBA cleared?
