He doesnt really have a bench. So when his plan A fails he doesnt have a good plan B and he loses. Fortunately for him his best 5 is almost undefeatable in the All Filipino. So I dont really know if he really needs to coach. But in the import conferences the holes show up. They won a ship with AZ Reid but failed to bring him the following year. The year after they brought him back. He was already the oldest import then but he still played the most minutes of all imports. He complained, he got fired. Compare this with how Tim plays Brownlee. He doesnt play 40 minutes every game. Cone makes sure that the minutes he gives Brownlees body can take. As a result no injuries.

And coach Leo worked Junemar like a carabao to carry his AF championship aspirations until the guy broke his leg. Junemar broke his leg just attempting a fast break. His leg just gave way. This means Junemar was playing overweight and too many minutes. Coach Leo cant say that he wants Junemar slimmer but focuses his offense on the fact that heavy Junemar cannot be moved in the paint. If he really wanted him slimmer he shouldve designed plays from mid range but no his main play is put Junemar in the paint because he couldnt be pushed at his weight.

Yes Coach Leo won all those AFCs but to the detriment of the developmeny of the best homegrown Pinoy player until Kai.The main reason JMF is "pang PBA lang" falls largely st Leo's feet. So count me among those who agree on the coaching change.
Yet alot of coaches including Bay Area coaches, Tab, Rajko. Says JF is Fiba or international talent So how many other coaches says otherwise. Him not so successful is more on him inconsistent on participating with Gilas and injuries.
Said it before, Phil Jackson ,Strve Kerr and Pops couldnt make the playoffs or loss in 1st round with out their Star players. So are they not good coaches.

      • Austria may have been a bad coach, but we can’t disregard the fact that he’s responsible for ending the petrnonovela days of smb, and somehow disciplined problematic players like ross and romeo (except nabong, he’s a lost cause) . He’s good at managing egos, but yeah he overstayed his welcome by riding his core players to the ground and failing to develop his bench unlike Victolero or cone

I think that Converge should stick with Rusbatch. Funny it seems but despite his so-so numbers, his teammates played well. They may benefit from not having a dominant import, although I know that it is too early to tell.

            • new all star game format for the pba- captains draft like in the NBA
-personally i'll rather have the MVP/BWE/ROS and Converge All Stars vs SMC/NP/TF and PHX all stars

edit: if the voting system is done at large, meaning all players are eligible to be voted in, expect the entire BGSM lineup to be voted by fans as all stars

Marcial said the same format will also be followed in the Rookies, Sophomores, and Juniors match, provided there will be at least two rookies per team. Two to three celebrities per team are also being eyed.

celebrities for the RSJ game would pronanly be jusy politicians from iloilo or regular politician patrons like Bong Go and Tolentino, PBA should pay star magic/abscbn to get A list starts like Daniel Padilla or Gerald Anderson in the game

They should get Pastor Apollo “I’m better than Wilt” Quiboloy.

Austria's always been old-school and likes bigman play, according to this tweeter: https://twitter.com/kilikilishot/sta...uoRdNW8gwgrcZw

Then, June Mar must have been a godsend to him. He's been old-school and big-oriented since Adamson. It's likely Austria who had June Mar dominate, maybe some from SMC management. Pero June Mar should have been put on weight watch.

Didn't he have Rios, Mamaclay, Trollano, Ken Bono in Adamson. Who are big man who can shoot in the Perimeter.

I just made inferences based on what I read, a.

Did Trollano, Rios et al. shoot since their Adamson days? If I remember, Trollano does have a post game.

Trollano played power forward in Adamson and he was a good shooter that time. He was used mainly as a cutter there. Same with Rios. There are only two players with the same length as Rios and Trollano that were licensed to shoot threes under Austria - Janus Lozada and Roider Cabrera.

Yes they have shooting. Trollano had better efficiency now. So Coach Leo was open to shooting big men especially Bono. That guy could have stayed in the paint and he will overpower most C at that time but he was allowed consistently to shoot from 3pts.

Lozada was the guy that was featured on Wish ko lang or something right? The one who used to wear tattered shoes to play basketball. That Adamson squad was legit. Even the bench guys are as good as starters. Too bad the only sure wins that time were against UP.

I think Bono was decent in the post but he was still overweight. Making him focus on the paint would sap his energy. At 6'5 he was a bit undersized for center. I think 6'7 Rabeh was the Ateneo center then. Even in pickup games you get that undersized center who is immovable on defense but too short to score in the paint but has a good outside shot. Bono was decent in the paint but too overweight to be called dominant. Without his shooting he would be huffing and puffing all game long. It was his outside shooting that made him special.

In 2010 and 2011, Adamson was a contender. The core of Manyara, Galinato, Camson, Colina, Lozada, Nuyles, Alvarez, Canada, Cabrera, Brondial, and Rios. That was an 11-man deep team team.

By far, the 2010's was the strongest Adamson we see since 2000. 5 final four appearances during the last decade.
