It also helps that their team is above average and can beat the best of PBA, good enough to attract once again the attention of local fanbase on a national scale, even those who have soured on the league. Not sure if this can be replicated though if it's patsy teams from SEA that are invited instead of a team like BAD.

meanwhile thirdy ravena who i thought was overrated has been slowly if not steadily improving in the b-league. kobe peaked in his 1st game in the b-league
I think the "overrating" on Thirdy stemmed from the expectation that the guy would make as much impact as Dwight Ramos or CJ Perez (during Perez' stint with Gilas in the 2019 FIBA World Cup). I never have that kind of expectation from Thirdy."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

But for them to match up well with the playoff regulars, INA NT is going to need more of the tall and skilled wings/forwards like BAD currently has. For now, they're similar to what the Gilas 1 looked like, only less skilled.

PBA should get out on the comfort zone and find some new viewers outside local markets... If INA NT plays there, atleast QF appearance is a sure thing (Most of local teams there are weak anyway) or luckily a semis stint if they will paired a favorable opponent in QFs...sigpic

Maganda yung suggestion na magkaroon ng invitational, if only to follow through the success of including BAY AREA in the competition.
If I may, its good to include the following as guest teams - korea, japan, taiwan, indonesia, lebanon and iran.
Since the article suggested the top 8 of the first 2 conference to form one group, and the bottom 4 including plus 4 invited international teams, will form the 2nd group.
For me there's basis to invite korea, japan and taiwan because their close to us and have a good league.
The following teams can also be considered for inclusion -
Indonesia - would definitely send a national team level with 2 alternating imports. They will also bring a large TV coverage from indonesia.
Iran - they have a powerhouse team, and there are many Iranians living in the philippines.
Lebanon - also a powerhouse team, and like the PH, they also love their basketball with a passion. Malaking coverage din dadalhin nila sa pinas.
I hope against hope that something like a 3rd conference invitational will be in the offing.

That article didn't really think things through. Basically the ask is to compete with the EASL? The ones that brought the dragons to the country?
This is basically what will happen if you get teams from Japan and Korea to play an invitational.Last edited by Sikatrix; 01-13-2023, 05:43 AM.

Free bus ride for ticket holders, the dry run for the FIBA World Cup at the Philippine Arena starts on Sunday
https://www.spin.ph/life/guide/pba-t...ef=home_feed_1
THE PBA said it will provide free bus rides for Game Seven of the PBA Commissioner?s Cup finals to be played at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan on Sunday.
The league said in an advisory that FMR buses will be dispatched for the exclusive use of ticket holders and media personnel going to the Philippine Arena on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The PBA said the FMR buses will wait for passengers in its terminal located in Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City, with the regular trips to Bocaue, Bulacan to start at 1 p.m.
The PBA, however, clarified that only passengers who availed the trip to the Philippine Arena will be allowed to ride the bus back to Manila.
A crowd of more than 50,000 is expected to witness Game Seven of the Commissioner?s Cup finals between Bay Area and Barangay Ginebra on Sunday.
The Dragons were able to arrange a rubber match for the championship after defeating the Gin Kings, 87-84, in Game Six at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

This narrative about globalization or going international has been the topic of the Philippine Thread since the Genesis time when I’m still one of the many unknown readers or lurkers during that early days of this platform, now here’s my take on this.
The bottomline here is our players must benefit more if this would become a reality(long time coming) and another bottomline, are the Granpas are enthusiastic enough that this would be the path the so-called oldest league in Asia will traverse moving forward? We could only get a hint when the Granpas and the BAD management itself announces that they will be back starting next season on a regular basis assuming(hopefully) they win the championship on Sunday. Even though I’m a Brgy fan here since The Sparks era but this time I want some drastic changes in the league.
