That Townsville Crocs was a touring team not their actual team. Hoop Dreamz consists of a couple NBL benchwarmers and players playing in low-level leagues in Australia.

If the trade is approved, where would Bulanadi fit in an SMB rotation that already has CJ Perez, Jericho Cruz, Marcio Lassiter, and Robbie Herndon as part of their 2/3 rotation? Not to mention the import, who's likely a 3.

Let's see if he can thrive in SMB next conference.

I haven't liked SMB's role player moves in a while. I don't count guys like Jericho Cruz as one as they are complete players who would be starters on another team. But they have been disappointing in their moves for the designated shooter role. Von Pessumal slowly became unusable for them. Although he is a good shooter he doesn't play good enough defense or can he drive the ball well. All of their shooters, even Zamar who could drive a bit, have either defense or driving abilities. Bulanadi doesn't seem to be a good defender nor is he a particularly good driver. What they actually need is size on the wings. Marcio is still their longest wing but he has lost a step in defense. Perez is their best perimeter defender but he is not long enough to defend the bigger wings or even wing imports. A guy like Tyrus Hill would have been a better move. But I don't have any expectations with Coach Leo. For the most part he has not been the creative team builder in his SMB stint.

They need long wings and tweeners. Just put into account the jump between Marcio and Brondial/Manuel. That’s a gaping hole in terms of team structure is concerned.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

Yes. While GSM has Malonzo and Gray to throw at taller wings, SMB only has "old" Marcio and undersized Perez to throw at guys like Brownlee.

They should get at least the likes of De la Rosa, if they can’t get their hands on the Northport guys Tolentino and Navarro. That should suffice in a PBA setting.

FIBA won't like local competition, it will have to be from a foreign or regional league like the ABL was pre-pandemic. also the continued exodus of our top local players to foreign leagues

                  • With Nicholson playing less than a hundred percent, who takes on the scoring cudgels. BAD is able to make a series out of this because Nicholson is literally a constant—he barely takes a breather. I don’t think he’s good for 36 minutes for game 4, let alone 40.

let's be honest, ABL was never really a competition for the PBA, but yeah, if left unchecked, the player diaspora to east asia will be a big problem

yeah it wasn't then but it was growing and selling out local arenas until the pandemic happened. i doubt the pba will shut down from talent diaspora but at least maybe it will force them to make reforms to improve the league, make it more competitive for all teams involved. recent mgmt & the existence of farm/sister teams make the pba unwatchable for me.

                          • I don’t know with you guys but the game was just ok. Yes there are a few questionable calls but where have you seen a game without it right? I’ll just comment in terms of eye test.. during the final stretch of the game, despite a bad shooting night for ginebra, you could see their determination and will to win the game ESPECIALLY BROWNLEE!!! That 4th quarter performance of brownlee was incredible. And the crowd was really into the heat of the moment for ginebra and sadly BAD didn’t respond well plus the untimely injury to nicholson. Ganun lang kasimple. I do understand the sentiments of powell and hankley but looking at it, ginebra just gutted out all they can to win the game at the end..

                              There were bad calls
here and there but nothing to decide
                              the outcome of
the game. BAD couldnt just admit that they struggled under
pressure, they couldnt make any shots when they needed them. And taking 40 plus 3pt shots and expecting fouls and FTs lol. I hope we win this series. Personally its one of the most important titles we could ever have if we can get this thing. Boss Al kaw na bahala lol

They still need eyeballs. If those eyeballs exponentially decrease then the other gentlemen in the club not named Ginebra might lose interest. MVP did not bankroll the Gilas project off of goodwill.

I'm seeing more excitement in the league Kyt Jimenez is playing in, and at the collegiate levels, despite the lower level of play. If the PBA doesn't turn around now, we will lose that highest level of play in the country in more ways than one, and we will be stuck at our current level or degrade lower, and the Gilas program will evolve into nothing more than a mercenary recruitment agency, more than it is now.
