  • It is interesting that Bay Area is now 0-2 vs Ginebra and both games were not super close.

Nicholson seems upset at times lol. He is out there killing and his teammates are struggling, especially Blakeney.

I do think this series goes the distance. I don’t think Thompson and Tenorio will play that well the rest of the series, but we will see

      • I still see Bay Area snatching a couple of games this series. But depth should come to play at the stretch. Ginebra is good up to the 8th man. Can’t say the same for them.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

I think it could make a significant impact on viewership and basketball following in the SEA region, overall global, owing to the combined close to 200M fans from PHL and INA.
They have 3 conferences in 1 whole season, Right? Maybe use of one of those conference as Invitational tournament... Or as you said form a format similar as EASL... Actually in the other side of Asia, There was WASL (West Asian Super League), There are two groups, One in West Asian group and other One is Gulf... EASL can separate East Asian ball clubs and ASEAN ball clubs... In terms of strength, especially in locals, Leagues like Philippines, China, Korea and Japan might have advantage, But if the format will have 2 imports each, other teams can be competitive and can match up vs more establish leagues in Asia.. Let's say Singapore Slingers vs SK Seoul Knights of KBL... If the former will have 2 imports, chances of winning against the latter are higher since 2 imports will offset the disadvantage of Slingers against Korean ball club in terms of local players, If there is an Asian import/heritage import rule then much better..

This is West Asian version of Super League:
Re-live the competition - WASL - West Asia League. Explore all games & results, stats, highlights, participating players & teams.

          • Ginebra got outclassed today. The Dragons brought it on defense, and Ginebra couldn't get much going outside of Brownlee. Cone was out of ideas, Goorjian out-tacticked him today.

              • looks like this series will be a long chess match, which is good for the pba and phil basketball

                • This Finals series could be a showcase on how Philippine teams should build and develop their teams in order to help them (and to an extent, their players) compete outside the Philippines. Good offensive players and systems, and tall, versatile forwards who can help out on offense and defense. The versatile forwards part is crucial as well, and that's Bay Area's advantage over almost every team.

Ginebra has Brownlee and Malonzo, and Bay Area has Blankley and Zhu Songwei. Both sets of versatile forwards who are crucial cogs in their systems, both offensively and defensively.

This was the result of BAD getting equal whistles as GSM. Before the game Goorjan asked what were the legal defensive moves. And he also wondered why Nicholson got bumped by CS with no calls and Brownlees defenders got fouls doing the same thing. Ive always said PBA series simulate the NBA hometown calls by alternating favorable calls for teams. Lets see if the calls stay the same or favor GSM again.

                    • How true is it that NLEX's import for the upcoming Govs. Cup is former Spur Jonathan Simmons?

Well, height and length, and the speed to go with it, is important, especially in the forward positions, although they are not the only factor. Can help out on defense, and give imports like Brownlee a harder time scoring.

Although, Brownlee did bleed for his points against 6'4" Anthony Semerad, and I think 6'4" Cliff Hodge.

Isn't that the dude that got 3 fouls in the first 3 minutes of game 1?

Having a local guard an import is big as it allows your team's import to pace himself. I think imports guard the other team's import most of the time?

Yeah, same guy. Yeah, having a local that guard an import at his position is really big.

As for imports guarding each other, I think that's the case, since they have the size and strength to match up against each other.

Its how the refs call it. I wonder how Goorjan reacts when the refs tilt the calls back again to Gin's favor and Zhu again is in foul trouble.

                              • TNT to bring in Serbian coach Gorunovic

Nine months to the 2023 FIBA World Cup proper, Chot Reyes is now to focus solely on Gilas Pilipinas, leaving the coaching chores at TNT Tropang Giga to the tandem of Jojo Lastimosa and Serbian coach Slavoljub Lale Gorunovic.
