Before Scottie played for Gilas last Window.

We always name Kiefer, Bolick, RJ, and even Dalph and Juan to be PG Candidates.

But now, Scottie has put up his name there if not the main ones.

I think Scottie Kief, and Bolick are the 3 PGs that will be in consideration for 2023 WC
Scottie's been making his case since August. He can pass, defend, and hustle. We have the others to score, although he can score when needed.

    He's PG1 for me, honestly.

I do agree with JF can take 3s but his lack of athleticsm and not able to drive to the basket will make closing out on him easy. Unlike Nicolson or RDO who can drive to the basket. We need a Offensive rebounder and inside presence more than a 5th shooter. More beneficial.
Ginebra have two bigs who don't shoot the 3pt and the finalist in last year NBA have also non 3pt shooting centers. See it can work 4 out is better for us in my opinion.
In the NBA kasi, they (Looney and R. Williams) can switch to the perimeter, and are threats close to the rim. More valuable for a center, as well as the ability to protect the paint. Even in Europe, valuable ang lob threat and defensive presence in a center.

That's actually what we should be looking for in Almazan, Erram, and Japeth-type bigs, and 6'6" bigs who have the mobility and length. Not necessarily shooting, but use their mobility to be able to at least switch the perimeter and help inside. Have to be able to play both 4 and 5 din (especially if you're 6'6" below).

Shooting is a bonus. Focus on defensive ability muna.

Yup. I think Scottie is starting to reach his prime now. If not already.

He is more aggressive now than in the past

I think he is getting better but he is not there yet. He was getting the Jordan treatment in this game. He gets foul calls on plays with barely or no contact. The good thing going for him is Cone is in Gilas. But even in this game it was only when LA came in that they were able to put the game away.

Lip service. Tact is one of Goorjan’s best trait.

            • with the way Cstand is playing in the playoffs is the reason why i'm really hoping that he will get an exemption as he will be the perfect complementary big man for Kai and Japeth, he really improved a lot with his defense except of course in shot blocking compare to the first time that we saw him play

              • Scottie is the ideal PG with Clarkson, Dwight and Parks being the focal point of offense, he doesnt need the ball to be effective, he does all the dirty things. Unlike our other pgs (kiefer,sj,rh etc), he is not ball dominant He just needs reps in intl competition to be ready for the WC and the BAD are providing it.

he would be more effective if chot is bot running ddo too nuch

I couldn't agree with U more bro. One thing about Iskati is that he doesn't really look for his shots. He's the type who is always willing to take a backseat in scoring if he has to. I think the same could not be said about a Kiefer Ravena or a Robert Bolick.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Love the fact that the advantages of BAy Area against SMB (tall guards & wings) were neutralized by Brownlee, Malonzo, Gray, Iskati and Pringle while having Jap & CS to work on Nicholson.
Bay Area is too focused on these guys that allowed LA to do whatever he wants. I hope we beat this team 4-0 lol

                    • Nicholson got bothered by the bumps. Goorjan asked for fouls to be called because they were calling them on BAD on the other end. Lets see on the 2nd game. PBA usually simulates the NBA hometown whistles and alternates favorable calls to teams.

Read that one of the players got called for 3 fouls in the first 3 minutes. Is it that bad though? It always feels like the crowd/officiating is in favor of Ginebra.

Scottie should play alongside JC and have one of Kief/Bolick come off the bench

Goorjian agreed with those three fouls. Just wants Nicholson treated differently. To be fair that Nicholson Flagrant was the real backbreaker and Ive seen that called before.

He agreed with those calls but in the same token he asked that those same fouls be called on Nicholsons defenders who bump him all the time.

I think having and developing tall, long local wings (eligible or not) who can defend should be one aspect PBA teams key on in the long run. Guys like Gabe, Malonzo, Navarro, Oftana, who can play the 3 and play defense, and have a perimeter skillset on offense, like handles, shooting, passing.

If PBA teams can line up more tall wings (6'5"-6'6"; 6'4" in special cases) who can defend and switch, it can help advance Philippine basketball by having mobile 6'5"-6'6" guys play the 3 instead of the 4/5.

Ideal coach for a Philippine team then, wouldn't be surprised if SMC team takes a jab on him
