how? most of the players that was exempted before either went to college in the Philippines or has been playing there for years. what will SBP present to FIBA to tie his basketball culture to the country?

I believe he didn't miss the Hagop deadline by much. In terms of basketball, even though he has not played any in the country, he has been a very active local basketball proponent. He has a foundation that among other things, teaches basketball to Filipino youth. That is something arguably deeper than what most people do if we're going to talk about roots.

The way Fiba decides is really subjective and not set in stone.

            • Although Hagop helps avoid countries from exploiting citizenship rules, it also inadvertently penalizes athletes who are dependent on the actions of their parents.

For athletes that realizes later on that they have deep affinity for a country that they have roots in (and demonstrates it), they are still limited by actions (or inactions) of their parents when they were minors. They are paying for someone else's mistake.

That's good for both Tamayo & Quiambao if that pushes through. I believe Tamayo & Quiambao have better chances getting the playing time playing in the KBL than playing in the B-league. Only 1 world import can play at a time in the KBL while 2 World imports can play at the same time in the B-league. Then a No. of B-league teams have naturalized players & they count as locals, hence a B-league team can field 2 World imports & a naturalized player at the same time.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

I wonder if it even managed to achieve its objective. Isnt it the practice of some countries to naturalize promising players before the age of 16?

                        cc: Sir Mets

it is a total hypocrisy on the part FIBA if they are not fully aware that other country(s) specifically Qatar and Indonesia(?) are practicing(?) by recruiting younglings from other nation(s) who doesn't had the bloodline on those I mentioned.

admit it or not(publicly) they are fully aware of what's going on each member's actions on that "before 16 document"

there's an official document on the table with a duly signed signature of an active gov't. officials e.g. President, Senators, Prime Minister among others and FIBA doesn't want to contest that to avoid any(more) discussions, confirmation, validation among others. "May official document na hawak ang bata, you cannot argue with that." masyadong masakit sa ulo yan and they don't want additional workload if they pursue some litigation/court hearing things.

if the argument is all about " why you(active government officials) provided an official document on those kids despite that they don't really had a connection on that backyard since the time of Adam.

FIBA's lips are already sealed on this.

                        that is why.
