It's possible Iran will be handled by a local coach for the foreseeable future. The "technology transfer" from foreign coaches appears complete.

Same for Jordan and Lebanon. Both are currently handled by a local coach.

It's only the Gulf teams, India, and Kazakhstan who I see still tapping a foreign coach. Ditto for ASEAN countries.

Not sure about us tbh. Tab is still the best coach to handle a national team but too much politics makes that impossible. The only hope is for local coaches to adapt and evolve their style.

Well, we have to remember that in 2007 the Iran national team was handled by Serbian Rajko Toroman who eventually also became the Gilas-1 head coach. From there, Iran was handled by several foreign coaches. It was only in the last 4 years that the Iran NT has been handled by local coaches.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

That's the problem. Working in Iran has major drawbacks and it's not guaranteed your job is safe as the country isn't the most stable economically given constant sanctions.

Even with local coaches, they had different guys handle the program since Dirk Bauermann (2015-2017).

        • Seeing Slaughter play in the B.League and how he moves, I just want to scratch my head. He should watch his world import counterparts playing bigmen. He is effing slow and soft.

Probably the main reason why SBP is not going gaga over him to play for the national team. Imagine him and JM in the World Cup, pick and roll galore for our oponents hehehe.

Also add the style of play but in fairness to PBA GS never dominated the league. For his size going against 6'5" centers to only average 14PPG/9RPG in his PBA tenure is somewhat underwhelming. This shows that his way below JM interms of skill and accomplishment.

His playing time ranges from 10-14 minutes. He plays mainly as a reliever to his team's world import.

Based on eye test, his role is mainly to set screens, obviously protect the paint and grab boards. He will score if only allowed by the situation.

Well, we also have to remember that Slaughter is now 34. He's no longer in his prime so its but natural that his game has deteriorated in the last 3 years or so. He hasn't been spared with injuries as well, though such injuries weren't that serious.

No one peaks at 20. I just hope he works his ass off in the next 3 years, but if no improvement still, I guess his NBA dream is sadly over..

Meanwhile this is the same Chot who can't compete internationally since 2014 and who Indonesia beat with a high school kid in their roster.

It's not simple hating. Chot can copy any play internationally all he wants, that doesn't mean he's on par with them. Stop being so bilib in our own coaches, we've stagnated for decades on end and Tab was right. Filipino basketball needs a shakeup. If players can have imports and we love them, then coaches need imports too.

I already said I wasn't watching this current season? Lol, hanggang highlights lang ako for this season. Refuse to give that pitiful league my time.
I like how you describe that Indonesian NT.

Slaughter earned his nickname of Barney in the PBA.

Most of the time it's the coach that will make or break a player's career no matter how you work your ass off.

The great big ben of Detroit Pistons was a defensive beast.

Ben Wallace is the greatest undrafted player of all time.

He was only utilised by Pistons coach because they needed a big who can stop Shaquille Oneal.

That is why, hopefully Victor Wembayana will be great and help other bigs to raise their stock value on NBA coaches and GMs.

tyreke evans says hi....kidding aside, Kai still has enough time to improve and make it to the NBA, despite his shortcomings in terms of skill and talent, you can't count out his determination. Hope his handlers dont waste his 2-3 year window

                              • Bruton will never be good to young players and he envisions this current ADL as GSW clone. Unfortunately, that wont happen because they dont know how to play defense and his players arent Curry/Klay types. Kai could easily supplant DJ as the main big for defensive purposes but CR of NBL is too afraid to hurt Dj's ego.

Kai just needs to preserve himself and let Wass move him after this season.

ADL as a GSW clone as per Sydney king's owner would be a disaster and will shorten CJ's head coaching career.haha

This is just a case of a very bad fit and a very idiot coach. Kai is easily way better than 7'3 prospect Aday Mara. Hopefully Wass will find a team that would be patient and will develop Kai the right way.
