One thing I admit that Kai is truly lacking. Is His Physical Strength. But I believe he will get it as his body matures.
Been a while. Bye IBN Again. See you in Regular Season of NBL
I think if Pingris was about 4" taller he would be the best PF in Philippine basketball history.Last edited by fadzki; 09-19-2022, 01:02 AM.

from Dean Mel Sta Maria of FEU Law
VERY IMPORTANT 10 LESSONS FOR OUR YOUNG BASKETBALL PLAYERS. What is the lesson our future young players, especially the stars in the mold of Thirdy Ravena, Will Navarro and the like, must learn from this experience of Will Navarro not being allowed to play in the Korean Professional League? They are as follows:
First, do not immediately jump into the PBA draft. There are other better leagues in Asia and Australia wanting to engage Filipino Players. Make PBA your second, third or even fourth choice.
Second. Getting immediately into the PBA draft after college will not be for your paramount interest, financially, emotionally and physically.
Third, Do not believe that crap that not playing for the PBA is against our national interest. There is absolutely NO national- interest-issue playing in the PBA. PBA is a private enterprise.
Fourth, playing abroad and receiving much larger salaries will greatly contribute to the economy of the Philippines. Your dollar remittance will surely help the coffers of the government. Do not miss this patriotic opportunity.
Fifth. IF you are to join the PBA or any other league, read your contracts very well. Be sure there is no exclusivity clause that will prohibit you from playing in other Asian/Australian leagues. Better still, provide a clause that will allow you to play abroad during times that you are not playing here in an official tournament.
Sixth. in your contract whether here or abroad, make sure that there are no potestative clauses that will leave the operation of the contract absolutely dependent upon the will of the company you are playing in or of the PBA. Our Supreme Court has voided such a provision with respect to a coach already, and there is no reason why the same clause cannot be invalidated when it concerns the players.
Seventh, do not sign any contract with a non-compete clause. This is a clause that prohibits you from playing with any other team for a period of time after you disengage from you present team. That will be prejudicial to your interest and that of your family as well.
Eight, Know the people with whom you are contracting with and also know league officials whether here or abroad. Entering into a contract also include studying personalities which may have something to do with your contract. Do not enter a contract that is motivated by selfish ends. Factor in the inflexibility or flexibiity and short-sightedness or broad mindedness of officials and contracting parties.
Ninth, remember that playing in another country greatly enhances the reputation of Filipino basketball players as one of the best in the world. Avoid people who seek to destroy, wittingly or unwittingly, this great accolade by their crab-mentality.
Tenth, Continue to trust yourself, remember you are world class and not merely PBA-class.

Sta Maria is discounting the level of talent in the PBA. There is a reason why Korea/Japan want our players. The class in the PBA is on the level of the locals of those countries. Australia is another level obviously and so is Europe/GLeague.
PS The country wont get remittances from someone like Gutang or Dwight. Those guys are based in America.

The FIBA ruling on the clearance mentions the Gilas contract, not the fact that Navarro had a commitment to NorthPort. At least in the article.

Pogoy's good in the PBA too.
However, most of those guys are 30 or above. When they retire, that's when the quality declines, especially in All-Filipino conferences. Unless the overseas players decide to go back, or top college stars opt to join the PBA, or there are more talented Fil-fors, or the PBA adopts a full-season import policy, the quality will decline.

There are a lot of Pinoys in JP. Also online we are among the most engaged in the world. The presence of world imports definitely makes B league better than the PBA. If the PBA had 2 imports the whole year round and they didnt have farm teams whoae role is to lose games then they would equal the B league.

Having said that, I think Kai already knows this, it's just hard to implement it on court on a consistent basis since he isn't used to boxing out since he was able to get away with just using his length ever since he started playing basketball
