I think they can play him for the SA game. Let’s see who gets cut on that one.
I want to say Scottie pero it doesn't look like he will given the padrino system currently in place.

      • Crossing my fingers that Choke will play Kai as an offensive force not as Junmar. Also hoping that it won't be a 7 man rotation of JC, Kai, Scottie, the Ravenas, Japeth, and Parks.

        • Kai’s offense at asian level is reduced to just dunks. No longer we see footwork, hooks or his outside shot. Over-emphasis on building his body might have been wrong

            Choke's offense.

            • Nothing has changed for Kai in terms of strength and PNR defense.

Gets pushed and bumped around by shorter players. Lebanon kept attacking Kai’s PNR defense and generated buckets off this point of attack.

But overall Kai did good vs Lebanon

              • i bet adelaide 36ers social media team will be busy posting kai highlights from this game

edit: also we won't be seeing a kai-chet matchup in the nba preseason with chet out for the rest of the coming season. kai vs poku tho

                • Arakji 2pts 4/11 36.36%

                  Haidar 2pts 1/8 12.5%

Those Arakji's pts were most likely when Kai was not around. Even Lebanese posters acknowledge Kai's tremendous defensive presence. Arakji was shooting haymakers when kai was contesting his shots.

Dont sleep on Kai, his Wasserman Agency is too influential and powerful. Akala ko ba wala na magkakainterest kay Kai as claimed by those doomsayers. Top 2 pick Chet recently had a bad injury same as what we have insisted here before that he is fragile. Lebron was even just running slow during that injury.

Here is a background on Kai's agency.

Wasserman is a sports marketing and talent management company based in Los Angeles. Casey Wasserman, grandson of media mogul Lew Wasserman, founded the company in 1998 and acts as its chief executive. Since 2002, they have been supporting careers, businesses and brand opportunities for some of the world’s most iconic talent. https://www.teamwass.com/talent

Lewis Robert Wasserman was an American talent agent and studio executive, described as "the last of the legendary movie moguls" and "arguably the most powerful and influential Hollywood titan in the four decades after World War II.

EWP may have made stupid decisions with the Ignite debacle and the ghosting of Goodwin but they had a more powerful agent this time in WAS.

NBA or not, I hope Kai stays in the NBL and makes an impact there at the minimum.

The league did him quite well.

Didn't they first faced each other in the U19 WC? Still an interesting matchup though. Undrafted rookie vs sophomore on an NBA roster.

nope, poku wasn't on serbia's u19 roster. he did play in the same u17 wc as kai tho but serbia didn't play against the philippines, only croatia did

I see. Looks like I confused Poku for another Serbian player Marko Pecarski.

He's already on his 3rd year I think. Are Kai and Poku from the same batch? I thought he's way older

Poku is older (born 2000) than Kai (born 2002). Poku did play on the same U17 WC tourney as Kai, like the other comment mentioned.

I was here all along lurking and just reading the threads. I was just waiting for a good showing from Kai and had been reading how they have been bullying math/jasper.

Here is Leb vs. Australia's stats. Haidar and Arakji were carrying Leb in that Aussie against the frontline of Maker, Pinder and Froling.

                                Ali Haidar 30:39mins 23pts FG 10/17 58.8% 2pts 9/14 64.3% 3pts 1/3 33.3% FT 2/4 50% 9reb

                                Wael Arakji 38:26mins 28pts FG 8/15 53.3% 2pts 3/9 33.3% 5/6 3pts 83.3% FT 7/11 63.6% 7reb 5ast 1T0

Against 20yr old Kai Sotto. Kai had a much better and more impactful fiba game than when MVP Giannis played against Gilas. These Leb local players are way better than that Castor-led Gilas.
                                https://www.fiba.basketball/basketba...#|tab=boxscore

                                Ali Haidar 32:34 10pts FG 3/12 25% 2pts 1/8 12.5% 3pts 2/4 50% FT 2/6 33.3% 9reb 4PF 3TO

                                Wael Arakji 34:56mins 24pts FG 6/17 35.3% 2pts 4/11 36.4% 3pts 2/6 33.3% FT 10/11 90.9% 2TO

The good thing with Kai's current agency is that they are very particular with how the teams will use Kai, unlike Bell who was just after his share. Wass is prepping Kai for a long and impactful career. Short-term money deals aren't enticing to them. They have warned Chot that he needs to make Kai look good. Kai was looking like a young Gobert in that game yesterday. Arakji was hitting the top most portion of the board on his layups.lol
