Good thing he was offered a 3-year contract, especially considering that he'll be banned from the PBA for a while. HAHAHAHA.
Imagine if Shiga will say they only wanted to sign Kiefer for a 1-year deal but after the PBA announced the 3 year penalty, We decided to sign him up for a 3-year deal.

Kief is what, turning 29 by October? After 3 more yrs of playing in the B-league, he would be 32 yrs old. He would have earned much more than enough na for himself & his family's future. Even if no B-league team would be interested in his services by that time, & he can't play in the PBA as he has to sit out in 3 years, he can retire from basketball na for good since he's more than financially secured already.

I think what Kiefer can earn in 2 years in the PBA, he can earn it in just 1 year in the B-league.

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

More than JF's "max contract" i think it will be times 2. You know the meaning of PBA's "Max contract"

Which means that at Kiefer's current age, it would be more practical to play in Japan than to play in the PBA. What Kiefer could earn in Japan in 3 years, he needs to play 6 long years in the PBA. Which means Kief would be 35 by that time.

So why play in the PBA for 6 yrs when you can get same amount of money while playing in Japan for only 3 yrs.?

this is no different from the Mikey Williams and those other fil foreigners who enter the PBA on their 30s, maximize all earning opportunities abroad before settling in the PBA

plus keifer didnt burn any bridges like greg slaughter, he'll easily get back to the PBA

Mikey actually wanted to enter the PBA earlier but because of the paperwork it was delayed. A better example is Maurice Shaw although I hope Kiefer aint next to done by his return.

                  • Diba chot is connected with ewp?

It's really disappointing... Why do we need to convince kai to play for flag specially that his available... I'm sure kai wants to play but EWP can't demand too much money kai doesn't deserve clarkson or blatche salary... Atleast not yet.

money is really the root of all evil... Chot should convince ewp to lower their price, Infairness to SBP if I'm in the same situation i will also not pay kai that high its kai and EWP loss.

                    • This is just a sad sight to see. I feel like EWP has a grudge with Gilas and its fans after the G League and Summer League fiascos.

I’ll say it’s a yes. EWP should accept that amount ( deserve to be less than 100k).Reason being is that kai needs to get exposed to proper competition (last time he played 5x5 competition was in the nbl). Ewp is just risking kai to get an injury by doing all those high performance training.

Kai will also earned the ire of a nation,if he publicly choose money over country. They should take whatever is being offered now and I'm pretty sure if Kai performs better than expected,SBP/MVP will a bonus check afterwards.
