    • this has been a wasted opportunity but he's still 20, i'd give it another year. if he plays in fiba games and the world cup and perform well that could be his ticket in

      • Does GS have clearance from PBA?

        • So long as he plays in fiba and made an impact there and he returns to adelaide with more focus, he will be drafted next year. This year, his every opportunity should be felt.

          • this thread had become a pool of toxic comments, recent negative after negative thoughts seems too heavy... this really is toxic confirmation bias,
-Recent posts that trying to make Kai's parents look bad
-Recent post and comments trying to insinuate that Kai's social life is garbage
-Recent post trying to downplay Kai and his family's hardwork, goals and sacrifices

You all can be better than that, be better.

            *
KAI is a 20 year old with an actual AAU, NBA D-League & NBL Professional experience, sure he went undrafted but AGAIN he is 20 YEARS OLD (Gasol played his 1st NBA when he was 21, YAO got drafted when he was 22) 7-Footers takes time!

Real ballers know that KAI got skills, we all just have to be patient on some of his physical attributes (his motor and stamina) then all those laterals&strength issues should hopefully be resolved.

We all should give Kai another year or two, then if a 23-year old Kai is still @NBL, only then we can question his NBA aspirations, until then...
*we should all continue to put pressure on both EastWest Private and his Agent (Bell as of now) and that if they don't stop their blunders, EWP&BELL should be petitioned and be replaced asap!

            • Apparently someone asked Jeremy Boswell and this is what he said:

" Im not sure what his agent is doing"

" He's missed most opportunities... 2 way contracts, summer league etc. I'm assuming he will be going back to Australia and try again next year but not sure"

MAY IBINUNYAG ANG ISANG MALAPIT KAY KAI SOTTO!!! "OPPORTUNITY" vs "PRIORITY" SAYANG BA??kai sotto nba journey updates and more.thanks to music: bensounds.com...

Seems like he got some offers but opted out to not be tied to a team...

EWP/Bell's gamble didnt pay off, by wanting more, they lost everything

Malonzo might need to play first in PH team. I am not sure if the Fiba clearance is enough for B league.

Yes maybe for the short term. But not all is lost. He needs to have a more convincing season in the NBL and try again. Hes only 20.

I was expecting him to play in the Asia Cup. Maybe they didn't agree on the price. If the rumors are true it took a substantial amount to make him come home when he was with Ignite. Maybe they were expecting the same amount? Also we hadn't heard from Bell again after his "misspoke" debacle. Is he still with the team?

They should be replaced now is what you mean, why wait later when they can do it now? That's just the way that gambles go, you win big you lose big.

Also, you can't stop this forum from being toxic. They live on confirmation bias, because Kai didn't get drafted now everything they say is 100% truth.

Yup. If you are not a teen with potential a big would have a more difficult route going from NBL to NBA. Jock Landale was a Finals MVP I think. And yet he was signed only as a 3rd string center by the Spurs. And traded to Hawks for virtually nothing. This is why I'm not optimistic with going to NBA from NBL at this point. I guess for now let's forget about the NBA. Kai should focus on improving so he can move from 3rd string center to backup center in his NBL team.

IMO he should focus on taking the starting C spot. Or at least move to a team where he can start. He probably won't get signed from potential and height alone as evidenced with him going undrafted so he might need to produce good numbers ti get noticed

                            • Whats difference of Kai being signed to play in Spain ( Real or Barca or any other club ) when he was 17, as to now as 21 y.o.? Can Kai be classified as a local when he was a minor, thus not taking up non-EU import slot? Can someone please clarify

                              Comment

                              • We keep focusing on the physical limitations of Kai but I think he has to grow a lot mentally too. Watching him in his workouts, he did not look "desperate." You gotta go into those workouts/tryouts like a hungry animal. So if you're like that in the crucial workouts, how are you in practice? How are you when you lift weights?

He really is young especially for our standards, but hopefully, these setbacks and criticisms will ignite and fasttrack that maturation process.

A recent example of this is Andrew Wiggins. When his head "clicked on" with the Warriors, he was a totally different player. Going for all the rebounds, defending the other team's best player, always going hard to the rim. It took a long time though. Hopefully, Kai can figure it out quicker. The body will follow the mind.
