yes. it would have been a nice experience.

relative to the gleague though, d nbl will not be compressed (a full six months or so), so kai will not be rushed nor pressured to perform immediately.

Now bragging aside the NBL is something I confidently can talk about as compared to the NBA, literally because I am involved and engage and negotiate with previously and currently.

The 1st thing we have to consider, is Kai was not selected as either an open import (like Hopson) or a next star program sign up by the league office (like Lamelo last year), so 1st of all the expectation is neither of the two. This is important to note as there are obvious reasons why he wasn't signed up under those classifications, do note the Next star program is for the purpose of players who are envisioned to be draft picks in the next NBA draft. (for whatever reason Kai isn't envisioned yet to be a draft pick next year , at least not yet as of the now)

So what is Kai's classification on what he was signed up for?
Asian development player. Now look at all the historical players past and current who were development Asian players.
Now I'm not saying that's his limit , but let's first set things right to manage expectations ,

BTW one of the development players who is balling and excelling is Izayah Le Afa .. a boy a coached in his younger years. So what this shows is that it is possible to exceed all expectations despite being signed under a development player contract.

Kai developing in the NBL is a great move ! that i'm really excited for , it will take time and will have growing pains..

BTW here are LeAfa's stats as a development player https://nbl.com.au/player/113805/158...iohooho-le-afa
      Galing galing mo tlga sir

Lets hope that's the end scenario, not him nursing an injury,it would have been a better scenario for me anyways if he went to the Japan Bleague, but EWP is now trying to get some of that money that they "loaned" to Kai and his family.

The best way to avoid injury is too be in top condition. As long as Kai takes care of his body he should be good

That's why for Sotto's agent Joel Bell, it won't be much of a surprise if more Filipino talents head overseas in the near future.

"I’ve been very impressed for many, many years with the Filipino players," said the American agent. "I grew up playing basketball against Billy Ray Bates, who was one of the legends of Filipino basketball. And I’ve always been really impressed with the Filipino passion for basketball."

To Bell, Sotto could just be the first of many who can explore this path.

The NBL, which has already established itself as one of the best pro leagues in the world, has been more welcoming to its Asian neighbors through the Special Restricted Player rule, where NBL teams are allowed to enlist Asian players that will be categorized as locals and not as imports.

The B.League has also did this with its Asian Players Quota, allowing teams to sign players from the Philippines, China, Korea, Chinese Taipei, and Indonesia and will count them as locals.

Meanwhile, the Korean Basketball League (KBL) only has the rule as Japan, although pundits expect it to be expanded to more nations in the future.

With that in mind, one can't blame Bell for projecting more Filipino players to head overseas.

"I can foresee definitely Filipino players in the future going many places around the world in the top leagues," he said. "But to me, Kai is the best one."

True, and I don't think Kai will get a lot of minutes right away, so his body can acclimatize more through the season. Btw, hiw many games are there in an NBL season?

                        as per wiki

Since the 2009–10 NBL season, each team has played 28 games during the regular season, 14 home and 14 away. The regular season starts in early October and ends in mid February. (pre pandemic setup)
