Those commenting negatively were bitter towards the idea of getting asian players rather than developing Aussie prospects. Some don't even have an idea about Kai capabilities.

Setting the situation of the NBL

Let's start with forecasting the more immediate (Kai's forecast for the NBL), before we start talking about the NBA daft. After all Kai will not be a NBA draft prospect if he 1st shows what he is capable of 1st in the NBL with Adelaide.

Now bragging aside the NBL is something I confidently can talk about as compared to the NBA, literally because I am involved and engage and negotiate with previously and currently.

The 1st thing we have to consider, is Kai was not selected as either an open import (like Hopson) or a next star program sign up by the league office (like Lamelo last year), so 1st of all the expectation is neither of the two. This is important to note as there are obvious reasons why he wasn't signed up under those classifications, do note the Next star program is for the purpose of players who are envisioned to be draft picks in the next NBA draft. (for whatever reason Kai isn't envisioned yet to be a draft pick next year , at least not yet as of the now)

So what is Kai's classification on what he was signed up for?
Asian development player. Now look at all the historical players past and current who were development Asian players.
Now I'm not saying that's his limit , but let's first set things right to manage expectations ,

BTW one of the development players who is balling and excelling is Izayah Le Afa .. a boy a coached in his younger years. So what this shows is that it is possible to exceed all expectations despite being signed under a development player contract.

Kai developing in the NBL is a great move ! that i'm really excited for , it will take time and will have growing pains..

the game is too fast as well with less time outs.. next thing you know in less than 40 minutes, its already half time..

not to mention Willy Cauly Stein (i thought we were naturalizing him?), Dwight Powell and the 6'10 Maxi Kleiber (who is a PF)

i already talked about these guys and their status by 2022.

If only someone didn't get dazzled by the bright lights of the NBA shortcut,instead went to a 2 year NCAA playing experience,they wouldn't be in debt with the EWP.They could have a monthly stipend from some sponsor back home for his financial needs.The boy would have at least have some education beyond HS and also a guidance from a top Div1 coach to develop his game and marketing.

Too many missed opportunities for Kai

- Considered by Gonzaga but didn't push through, the Gonzaga went to the 2021 Finals.
- Enter the G-League Ignite Development but didn't play in the official games.
- Tried to play in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers but got canceled.
- FIBA U19 World Cup, Philippines is not qualified, where they could have been qualified if there is a qualifier.


maybe there is something better that will come.

its getting to a point that its gonna be really scary,that he's going up against guys who are gonna be really physical against him,the potential of getting injured is much higher.In the GLeague,everyone wants to come out in one piece so a tough physical defense is not even considered,that would have been a nice time to showcase his offensive side.

Here is the thing , what Kai has accomplished.
1st homegrown to be selected into ignite G league
1st homegrown that was offered NBL contract .

Is still unprecedented, that's another way of looking at it.
And he's barely 19 yrs old
