I agree sir with your take on how the NBA game has changed that's why I suggested the name Satnam Singh. He was drafted purely out of his marketability because he is from India which is not really basketball crazy like the Philippines. So if the skills that Kai are not enough for him to be drafted I think many unpopular teams will draft Kai because he has a basketball crazy nation behind him.Originally posted by DAdmiral View PostI honestly think Kai would have a chance of getting drafted in 2015 or earlier, the game really has changed since then..
Duren the best center would be a top 3 lock in 2015 , now he might not even be picked in the lottery
Even the average age is much younger now
Zheng BTW was invited to the combine, when you're a border line prospect like Zheng or Kai, keeping relationships without burning bridges with Ignite and NBA and age actually matter a lot.

From twitter
PBA insider
One Filipino player will soon be signed by Korean team ‘Samsung Thunders’.
Another player is under heavy consideration.
Expect another exodus of players; this time to Korea.
The proverbial alarm bell is roaring loud for the PBA.
*not necessarily that a player needs to play pro first before playing in kbl. As long as any pinoy leagues in RPPhilippine Malditas to FIFA Womens World Cup 2023

him to dominate Asia like how Yao & Hadadi did with China&Iran...Or something more? Gilas being competitive against European Teams of course against Australia & NZ, because i can only recall China w/Yao as the only Asian team to be competitive on a world level competition. That Japan win against Australia Team B shouldnt count. Hadadi's Iran team had good games yes but not on d level of Yao. So for Kai, drafted or not, just be the generational talent/player that would elevate the whole program against world class nations would be enough Lol

btw, Ricci is targeting to play overseas as well. I hope that Korea gets him, alongside Carl Tamayo.
I agree, this can be a core of our Gilas in subsequent tourneys.

AJ Edu - America

It's really basic logic, if the goal is to improve competitiveness internationally, then one should practice their craft internationally, not locally.. it's true for any discipline.
The next step is high school players over 16 should start developing their games outside of the Philippines..(I'm serious).
We do not have to reinvent the wheel. All these praxrixes and pathways are proven .
If our current way of doing things is correct then why have our results and outcomes been so bad !. Definition of madness..
I think this time is the first time we have an exodus of exported gilas eligible quality players in different overseas league.

1. Play for Youth team and play very well (Done)
2. Play for Senior Team as a teenager, and play decently to good in Fiba Asia Tourney. (Done)
3. Play for Gilas in Fiba Asia Cup or WCQ. (Not Done, 50-50 since he can go summer league)
4. Play for Gilas in 2023 World Cup and be the Star or at least a Major Controbutor (Critical Stage)
5. Then after that, Kai as time goes on should be one of the top 5 Centers in Fiba Asia. (2024-2026)
6. 2027, that will be Prime Kai. Should be the Face of Gilas in World Cup and all Fiba Tournaments

If reason is purely marketability, a team like Sacramento can simply sign him as a FA, there is actually no case for needing to use a valuable draft pick on him, when he isn't really in the radar to be drafted anyway. A team that uses a pick on Kai will have to justify the spend and move (which is hard given his real draft situation)Last edited by DAdmiral; 05-13-2022, 09:29 PM.

The NBA created the combine because the NFL have one, they created the DLeague/Gleague,because MLB have farm teams of A,AA,and AAA Leagues. The NBA had been in competition with both for players, with more kids gravitating to eithe American Football or baseball instead of basketball.Hence the drafting of more international players. They should just changed it World Basketball Association, heck MLB call their championship the World Series. The NBA is already deep in the playoffs and an upcoming draft, yet from tv to radio, they're still talking about the concluded NFL draft and the upcoming Spring and Summer Football, excitement of MLB season. The NFL was responsible for 75 percent of the most-watched broadcasts, while the NBA, NHL, and MLB didn't have any in the top 100.The World Series topped the NBA Finals by 39% in ratings (11.7 to 8.4) and 36% in viewership (19.4 mil to 14.3 mil). Just my 2 cents since the market is international market anyways, just make the diverse quota of the players on the team.
