Then CJ makes a fool of himself by stating in an interview Kai is a good shooter. We don’t know that yet, but you can dismiss it this early if it suits you. Weak stamina yes, but I don’t think Kai would be looked at by teams to be a starter and play extended minutes.
LOL Delley was never a speedster in the NBA he's slower than rush hour traffic please STOP. I won't be surprised if Kai collapses during the NBA draft combine when he's asked to do suicides.

so again what potent tools does Kai possess? please enlighten us all .....

Yeah, and Kai is a diminutive guard pitted against him. Lol

I am not a fan of stating the obvious. Enlighten us all. Dinamay mo pa yung iba. Lol I have already stated my reasons on why I think Kai would make it to the NBA in the past. If you are keen on seeing my takes, get to work. Otherwise, you just have to live with an opinion different from yours, if you can.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

        Just ignore him noinu. Lol

This thread actually starting to mellow down a bit. There are a lot of disagreements, but fights are lessen compared to 2019-2020.

For those who are not familiar with his game and measurables, you can check him out and I’ll leave it up to you as to who do you think deserves a draft pick between him and Kai. To me, Kai offers more upside and is a better NBA prospect than him. He can be All American 1st team or even NCAA player of the year this season, but my money is on Kai having more potent tools to make it to the NBA.
In the site I'm on, he's the 50th pick. Same listed weaknesses as Kai, lateral quickness and PNR defense. Also watched the 2021 highlights video, he also jogs back on defense despite being 6'10. Enebeyen. This is against college students too, so I think Kai should have a leg up on him, since Kai is battling bigger and smarter monsters below the basket while being the same weight, 235 lbs.

Just like how fans can exaggerate Kai's strengths, critics can exaggerate Kai's weaknesses too.

Do people just go overseas for money . So if you're an artist . And what to expand your experience, that's not allowed?

Isn't that a natural consequence. If you're not active working domestically due to pandemic then find work overseas. Ano masama Doon?

And doesn't that make you a better player for Gilas sake ?

            Weird mindset ..
Nothing new. Sports in Philippines are full of politics.

I will use Chess as an example.

Our Best Filipino Chess Grandmaster Wesley So decided to go to US to improve his game. ( And he did!!!!, he is now included in Top 10 chess players of the whole world). Also Wesley hated the politics involve in sports (including chess) here in the country.

Yet, the Philippine Chess Federation holds a grudge on Wesley for deciding to explore his talent overseas.

Here are some statements by Wesley:

But as complex as the situation was, So himself was certain he wouldn’t have left had it not been for the politics that has permeated every single aspect of Philippine society, sports included.

But it was almost impossible to get ahead in the Philippines. So I thought I should just use my chess to get an education in the States and maybe find another job,” So added.

To be poor and unconnected in the Philippines is to be trash for rich people to step on,” So said.

“Because of a quarrel between the kings of the sports bodies, not only did the country refuse to acknowledge my efforts, they refused to give me the P1 million promised to athletes who bring home a gold medal.”

He also wrote the Dickel/Tab Japan rumor even though it's never verified.

The answers you and I have are different, but both are correct. Plus scouts aren't necessarily pouring their info into the mocks. We don't actually know what they're thinking, regardless of if the mocks get the draftee list right 99% of the time.
Motor is tough to develop especially if you're over 7 feet. Some people are just born without it. Even some of the most athletic players have low motors. And some unathletic people compensate by having great motors. I cant think of anyone above 7 feet who's has the same activity rate as say Joachim Noah or Varejao who's only around 6'10 range.

                    • I actually agree I don't see Drew Timme (despite his good stats) being drafted , especially not over a player like Ariel. (Exemplary motor and size)

Which illistrates that it's not simply a matter if Kai is "good "enough to be reasonably drafted (which I think he is), but does he have what coaches are looking for to use a pick over 60 other players?
So it's not a matter of finding a player like Timme and saying scouts will want Kai more than him, but litterarally finding 60 players who are available to be selected that Kai can best out to be selected over. And in my opinion they're not 60 available players you can identify.

Ariel for example even if not in top 60 , I do not see Kai having what NBA scouts are looking Kai being picked over him. In fact the same analyst Andrew Gaze (who's played in the NBa) who had Kai in 2nd round in his show (posted). States this. "Ariel is the best best NBL prospect . And claims NBA scouts who talk to him are tentatized with his motor and what he brings . Ariel is one of those 60 that is more of a prospect

While others rise in stock after a good series of games Kai's stock hasn't risen even if it's been more than a week after his breakout 3 games . It is indeed concerning, that he's not showing what NBA scouts are looking for

                      • No one can reasonably say that Kai despite his superior stats has a skill set and upside that NBA scouts are looking for over Osumun Dieng .. that would be super super stretch.

I'm a fan of the Spurs ,Gilas and Kai. I get it and I aspire and hope for the best for all of them. I hope the Spurs make the playoffs next year. I hope Gilas makes the 2nd round WC in 2023. I hope Kai is drafted. While all of these dreams are possible . That is not the point of this discussion . But it's determining if it reasonably likely those outcomes will happen. And the plain reality is the probability of any of those happening is super low and unlikely. (That's all we're saying)

                        • True recruiting

True story: A coach of one team asked me to find a player ( I recruited a few players for other teams in the same league as the team inquiring).
So I send them a prospect (who is more accomplished than the previous players I recruited). Coach response : He's not what we're looking for"

Lesson : which I tell parents and players who ask me what will it take to be recruited? It comes down to finding a coach in the league you want to join that sees in your gsme what he is looking for. (Period)

To be objectively honest , my guess is there is No coach in an NBA team that is looking for in the draft what Kai provides over 60 other prospects. That is my honest opinion

Receiving calls of interest does not contradict this . You need to be one of the top 60 . Not one of the hundreds to receive calls

                          • I will not gonna argue Kai's Nba Draft Chances for Now. It will come very soon anyway.

I am just happy Kai is able to be a contributer and even a roy contender as a 19yrs old kid in a Grown Man league (which is considered arguably a top 5 basketball league in the world)

Imo, Kai is already the most accomplished Homegrown Filipino Teenager Basketball Player of All Time.

And in the Future, most likely the Homegrown Filipino Basketball Player Goat. (With only Sir Caloy Loyzaga as the competition, who were a mythical 5 member in Olympics, and won a bronze medal.)

Same. I already said my piece. I backread too. Not all the pages when I was gone, but a substantial amount. I know who stands on which side. The problem is that some people can't stand others having their own opinions despite all the facts being laid out on both sides, some people resort to mocking other people's opinions to the extent of doxxing on other sites, and some people not being able to stop themselves from correcting other people's opinions, when it's an opinion, it cannot be corrected.

At this point both sides understand the situation thrice over. No need to keep repeating points that will only flare tempers up again because everybody thinks too highly of themselves.

                              • Diop and Foster are the types of bigs NBA teams are looking for to pick in the 2nd round (there are enough of them (types) to find ahead of Kai)

As the 2022 NBA Draft slowly approaches, more names have been linked to the San Antonio Spurs in recent weeks.
