I do think that this year's san en is a tad bit better than last year's with Jelovach. The team seems to be more cohesive also. They just have to figure out how to finish games. It is really frustrating to see them blow leads. I swear that I have seen at least 3 games that San En could have pulled off. Same with Kobe's close games.

In fairness, most of our guys looked bad in the King's Cup and, per the tab, they were not playing to win and were trying different combinations/lineups, chemistry, returning players, changes in system, etc. If the Asia Cup happened, that would have been the perfect opportunity to judge Thirdy and the rest of the guys.

All of our guys have been a mixed bag in the B league so far, and these weaknesses/bad games must happen for all of our guys in order for them to improve.

Focusing on Thirdy, like I said, the man is inconsistent, especially in shooting. He shoots well from the perimeter in some games and bricks like Westbrook in others. Thirdy has also been turning the ball more this season (2 vs 1.5). Positives from Thirdy this year is that his FT percentage has increased from 54% to 72.5 percent this season, which is a plus. He also always does other things on the court as well that can help the team (defense, hustle, etc), so even if you put him on the floor, the team still benefits from him. I also like that the coach has more trust on him compared last year.

Yeah unlike Kobe, everyone has been finding ways to contribute to their team besides just scoring. Thirdy isn't shooting very well for a while now but he's doing very well in defense and is very active in every play.

For a guy that tall and athletic he should have at least be rebounding better. He has plenty of games to turn it around

From the fiba qualifiers sample of 5 games, he shot 36% from the field which for a 7footer isn’t the greatest especially when a lot of his attempts were inside and 0% from 3 on 1.2 attempts per game. His FT % and form suggests he could be a good shooter but it hasn’t materialized in games. His struggle on inside scoring is probably his body, he lacks the strength to play his game inside, but his outside shooting I think just comes from not enough reps of doing it in games, his 3 point % in youth games is pretty bad to.
Damn. Ive always thought that he was a good shooter. He needs to hit those shots IMO especially since he isn't strong enough to bang inside all the time. It will also prolong his career.

Another thing that worries me is that he fell down on the floor a lot with the slightest resistance. I hope he can address this things this coming season.

        • Kai's shooting issue was because remy change his shooting form into a quicker release. I disagree with that because it is impossible to block 3s from a 7'3 player who also knows when to take his shot. The low shooting average also was mainly because of the missed 3s and the obvious BS absence of decent passes to Kai from Sj. If only Tab milked PNR plays for Kai, life for Gilas would have been easier. No one could stop a 7'3 very skilled roller even Boban wont stand a chance. Bobi would be too slow for Kai and Kai will just sidestep or release his vaunted teardrop if there would be defender on his rolls. Kai could have also easily score on dunks and alleyoops. Tab and Sj were just full of BS. If kai was receiving passes that was given to Koaume, kai would have easily average 15 or more.

Even with the restraints and the SJ factor Kai stats were decent with his limited minutes.

Here is an article about kai and how his minutes will be in the NBL. Malou would play 4 and would be their 4th or 5th big. Often injured Bairstow isnt expected of anything and will just be a filler for IH until he would be healthy. Kai is playing against DJ in practice as per IH kai is doing well as expected. Dj isnt known for his defense and he wont stand a chance against Kai on the defense end.

I am expecting that Kai will play major minutes based on this article. This is from NBL main writer himself and not just a claim from analyze or silent killer.

The spotlight would be on how Kai will perform in NBL as compare to Chet in the NCAA. Kai against grown men while Chet playing against college boys.

            • Depth Chart

Based on article (of course if healthy)

Center : 1. Humphries 2. DJ (Yes he is a 5/4 and the primary center when Humphrises is injured / unavailable 3. Kai/ Barstow.
PF : 1. DJ 2..Malou (will only start if there are injuries at center forcing DJ to start at 5. 3 Harris /Todd

"Daniel Johnson and Isaac Humphries are the presumptive starters at power forward and centre, with Humphries still working his way back from the foot injury he sustained last season. (so unlikely to play in preseason) Beyond that, there’s not a lot of depth in Adelaide’s frontcourt. Emmanuel Malou will play some back-up minutes at power forward, import Todd Withers is a three who can slide to the four while the 36ers appear poised to add injury-plagued former NBA big man Cam Bairstow to their roster in the coming days.

The bottom line: there are minutes there for Sotto if he’s good enough to grab them. That’s no easy task, however, especially when you’re battling one of the league’s best scorers every day at practice.

“The best match-up I’ve had on this team is Daniel Johnson,” Sotto said (Obviously a center match -up

SMC "can" pay them, no doubt about that. But that's not the point, the point is, "will" they pay them that much knowing that it will certainly hurt profitability? I mean, for certain, malulugi ang SMC if they match the posible offers of these B-League teams on SMC & its farm teams' players.

Imagine how much or how many times bigger salaries would these B-league teams are willing to offer some PBA players as compared to what these players would be getting in the PBA.

If CJ Perez is offered 1.5 to 2 million per month contract by a B-league team , would SMB be willing to match it?

                • I have seen Kai battle against Fiba World highest scorer Ratliffe and NBA unstoppable Boban. Both of them didnt have an easy way and a lot of times struggle with Kai's length and IQ as a defender. Kai denies entry passes and would timely poke the ball on the offensive man. It is all over the highlights. He did it many times with Kardo and Bobi.

There is a reason DJ wasnt included in the Boomers NT for many years. Also, he is no where near as good as Kardo and Bobi. DJ is in the twilight of his career and he doesnt have anything in him to be able to stop Kai. While Dj hasnt seen someone like Kai, a 7'3 young player who is intelligent and way more athletic than he will ever be.

It is simple Kai will possibly end up as ADL's best big God willingly. He has all the tools over the other bigs except for slight edge in strength by IH. Kardo and Bobi cant easily push and backdown on Kai. This is real talk if you only process things.

It is still pretty early, but I would like Kobe to have as few games like this as possible. I really hope that Kobe can play off ball more and find ways to be effective if his shot is not falling (thirdy).
Agree with this. Kobe's shots would be more accurate if he gets more set shots or catch-and-shoot opportunities. Mahirap kasi if almost all of his shots would be something in which he has to create for himself. Creating your own shot off the dribble is more difficult than a catch-and-shot or a set up shot.

Also I agree with what a poster here said, Kobe must wait for his game to come to him. Wag masyado manggigil na makapag score agad. I can see Kobe's over eagerness to score often times. He should know when to pick his spots, ika nga.

                      • But really i dont get why they had to bench Kobe to start the game as if he cant contribute in scoring. As far as im concerned they need to improve on defense and freaking avoid turnovers. Remember, their pg cost them a loss when he had two straight tos a few mins left in the 4th qurater over a couple of weeks ago. Kobe may not be perfect but give him the opportunity and he will deliver, its not just gonna be every aingle game but he will contribute greatly. He needs to avoid fouling too too much and tos as well. And take good shots and not forced shots.

                        • This would be the real DEPTH chart. Analyze chart is way of course.

Why would Bruton not utilized his BEST bigs most of the time? Also, he said he watched Kai even when he was with TSF. It is a no brainer that he will take advantage on the mismatches if Kai will play pf at times. Kai could also easily blend in any lineup and teams are way better both ends when Kai is around.

                          Center
                          1. Humphries 2. Kai if IH unhealthy will be main big starting C role expect during blitz and early season 3. DJ/bairstow

                          Power Forward
                          1. DJ 2. Kai/Bairstow 3. Malou

The top performer right now is Kiefer, That 27 pt - 10 assist game vs defending champs is the indication that Kiefer is the best performer after 1 month of B-League action.. 2nd is Parks, although Ramos is now peaking on the right time, consistent numbers and more efficient than Parks in last 5 games that i noticed.. So it's either Ramos at 2nd or Parks, either way eh wala ka masasabi din sa performance nila, Then Kobe on 4th and Thirdy at 5th.. They need to be consistent in their next games... Then the rest waley na, although i will put 1GDL at 6th best performer for now due to his last game performance... The biggest challenge for them will be the next couple of games and months if they can handle fatigue in a 50 plus B-league regular season games.. We saw Thirdy last year how he struggled due to a long regular season..
                            Ray Parks: 10.7 PPG on 46.1% FG (32.3% 3PT), 3.7 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.2 STL, 19.9 MPG
                            Kiefer Ravena: 12.9 PPG on 44.2% FG (37% 3PT), 1.8 RPG, 5.6 APG, 2 SPG, 25.5 MPG

                            Kobe Paras: 12.3 PPG on 38.1% FG (32.6 3PT), 2.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.7 BPG, 27 MPG

                            Juan GDL: 6.3 PPG on 38% FG (34.5% 3PT), 2.0 RPG, 2.6 APG, 13.8 MPG

Based on the numbers, I have to agree with these rankings, especially now that Juan looks like he's starting to pick up his play as his minutes increased. I hope our guys play better.

It just his team so weak to carry on his shoulders too much.. He needs help, especially from other players.. I already expected Kiefer and Ray to perform because have experience already playing professional leagues around Asia (PBA, ABL), But to be honest, Nakukulangan ako sa performance ni Parks, He can score and produce more than that, We saw how he can bring TNT last year to the finals, His coach should let Parks do his thing, I know they playing thru system but sometimes they have to remember that Parks has that talent to bring his team to the next level, Give the damn ball to Parks and let him do his thing.. While give Dwight another year of professional league stint then he will produce much better than today..
I actually can't get a +/- yet. Plus, I'm on the fence on whether it's a good indicator of actual impact.

Oo nga, Dwight's been good for his first professional stint. My issue with Dwight is that there are some games where he doesn't take a lot of shots, but I think that will change as the season goes on.

                              • I was a former doubter of Kiefer when he played disaster in 2019 World Cup.

But right now, I can say he got his grooves back. And showing that he deserved invitation for 2023 Gilas World Cup.

I think Kiefer now is the best eligible/available pg for Gilas. I never thought I will say this to kiefer.

ALSO, the best thing I like with Kiefer is he knows how to involved both bigs and wings with his playmaking. Other Guards have the tendency to just pass it in emergency cases.
