Even with that thats hearsay from a friend of a player pa. I mean its a possibility for point shaving but accusing someone with no probable cause is unfair. They are celebrities so people know them so their reputation will be damaged. Would you want your integrity be question with out proper evidence.

People who are more famous or even have more influence than basketball players do cheat. What makes you think that some famous basketball players will do lesser than that?

His dad has an account in pex, here's what he said:

"Isaac has left the Philippines. He was never given a chance to show what he could do. There is too much corruption and politics when you start having corporate sponsors. It breaks my heart that he was away from his family for that length of time and never had a good opportunity. But, being his Dad, I'm glad he's back home."

He did go to another less successful team, Barako Bull. The first game he played was against another SMC team, Purefoods. He outplayed Pennisi. Had more points and more rebounds in about 1/3 the minutes. He was serious about winning. However, for a lower ranking SMC team to beat a higher ranked team is NOT a good thing. The coach knows this....so, in 12 minutes, the coach KNEW all he needed to know about Isaac and he was put on reserves. Isaac was there to win..not to intentionally lose to make other teams look good and get a higher ranking on the playoffs. Its sad, really. He left home, spent 3 years of his life there giving it all he had and all he wanted to do was play basketball. He wasn't given the chance so he's back home...I wouldn't be expecting him to come back.

Thanks for the support that you did give him while he was there. It was an experience that he will enjoy the rest of his life.

Did I generalize ALL basketball players? Didn't I say "some"? Looks like you are the one assuming that I generalized that ALL players are side bettors.

Unfortunately, Isaac played the exact role that was expected of him this past year. He was not expected to be a offensive player. He was expected to be a defensive force, which I believe he was. He has been working more into the offensive side while keeping his defensive skills sharp. I think you will see a totally different Isaac Holstein, if he is given a chance to contribute offensively. I was able to see him play in the PBL tourney in DC and he impressed me even though I have seen him play for years. Hes a much improved player.

From reading the accounts of Phil Morrison and Isaac Holstein's dad, it looks like one big reason beside the bigger salaries for Pinoy players going to Japan was to escape the toxic politicking and culture of corruption that plagues the Philippine basketball scene.

Yes and yung mga nakalaban nina Dwight, Parks & Kobe today were B-2 teams that is why parang one-sided yung mga games. I think teams participating in this tournament don't really take it seriously except siguro kung semis & finals games na.

BTW, Matthew Aquino had an impressive game today finishing with 9 pts & showed some offensive prowess. You can see in the highlights na nagsa standout talaga yung size ni Matthew. I think he's one of the tallest players among local players (remember that he's considered a local player in Japan) in the B-2 league

Thanks, bro. I hope Aquino develops to be at least another Baltazar, perhaps slower but heftier version. It is not far fetch given the high quality training Japan can offer. It’s really up to Matthew to work himself out into a better paycheck and better opportunities.
