Kobe's Nigata team almost scored an upset against powerhouse Toyota Alvark. Nigata was in control of the game from the start only to collapse at endgame. Masakit na pagkatalo for Nigata & would have been a big win had things went Nigata's way. Another not so good game by Kobe. His mid-range jumpers weren't falling.

    • Dwight Ramos' moves looked "malamya" & a bit slow but they're kinda deceptive. His pull-up jumpers really look "malamya" (parang lazy jump shot) but those are actually his money shots. Basic na basic ang dating ng mga jump shots nya. I think among our wingmen in Phi basketball, Dwight has the most effective jump shot right now.

Yeah, his lift on his jumpshot is too straight, with very minimal fading motion. I'm not sure if it will work against taller and rangier defenders.

His shooting motion especially the way he squares and set up his feet is very similar to John Paxson.

I hope some of our players should bother to search and watch the shooting forms of John Havlicek and Pete Maravich. They may also look at the shooting form of Chris Tiu.

Thirdy's shooting form looks like he is a player from 70's NBA with weird @$$ shooting form transferred in 2020's.

Thirdy's form looks like that of Michael Cooper. Thing is, Thirdy's not as accurate.

              • You don't have to be flashy and have too much athleticism. You only need decent skills and bball IQ. Knowing what to do and being skilled enough to do things is sufficient in the NBA. It was displayed by LUKA, JOKIC, BIRD, DIRK, and countless others.

Iba din talaga ang bball IQ!lol The beauty of reading the plays, anticipating when to react, the timing of decisions, and the skill to execute it to be effective. Sobrang luwag ng NBA court, I am confident Kai will have a lot of space to do his thing.

Speaking of Thirdy's shooting, here's an interesting video. fast forward to 0:53 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58QU2ZB1xvk

Do you believe Yeshkel's analysis on this matter guys? That a player's weight training, specially if its too much, may affect his shooting accuracy?

Nof really. The players from the Dominican Republic are more ripped and buffed compared to Thirdy but their jumpers, alongside with their transition offense, killed Gilas in OQT. Alex Garcia from Brazil is like a bulldog with his muscles but he is a capable perimeter shooter. Karl Malone, for all his muscles, has a sweet midrange jumper.

Malaysia and Thailand teams are really thin and horrible perimeter shooting team.

Again, it is all about the combination of mechanics, confidence and the gameplan.

I mean if you're going to compare Malaysia and Thailand with the likes of Dominican Republic then they'll definitely have horrible skills in contrast lol.

Do you have the time to name some more of those "others"? I'm sure it won't be that hard since you said there's countless of them. Would be greatly appreciated.

Joe Ingles, Kevin Mchale, Gasol Brothers, Lopez bros, Vucevic, Zubac, boban too many to mention Majority of white bigs rely on skill and IQ over athleticism. We could also include great white pgs like stockton, jkidd, pistol pete, havlicek, hornacek, most white shooters. Bball will always be about skills and how you use that skills to be effective in the game.

Exactly my point - the physique of a player has nothing to do with his shooting skills. One can be badly thin but has horrible shooting skills while the other can be a bodybuilder more than a basketball player but has an impeccable shooting ability.

I see, although I'm not old enough to really have valid takes on the older players, the more recent ones (probably oldest will be Pau) I have an idea on them. I agree that most of them are really skilled, although does that really mean they have high basketball iq automatically? Also the post bigmen (not stretch bigmen), while they may not be very athletic in terms of speed or vertical for nba standards, aren't they all really strong enough to make up for less athleticism in terms of their "physical skills" especially if they bang bodies inside throughout the game? Boban for example.

Yes, while I think that it may have an effect to certain degree, and maybe more on the short term as he adjusts, I also don't think it would result to a drastic change in the player's jump shot.
Its just that Dominican Republic is on another league compared to Thailand/Malaysia that there's not much to compare. Would've been a better comparison if we had say, Player A who entered the nba as a scrawny teen with good outside shooting then added more muscles but kept his shooting stroke if there is one. Just my take.
