It is really hard to swallow that a Pinoy prospect is receiving at least 400k at 19. Kai is way more than Yuda Baba.lol RJ Hampton receive 500k and barely made an impact.
Adelaide might set their roster to 10 or 11 and that would mean more playing time for Kai. Dj wont average 30min and most likely 25min. For both Center and PF, a total of 80 less DJ' 25minute. Kai, Malou and Humpries would share the remaining 65 minute. Kai's playing time would be around 15 to 25 and mainly plays C.

I'll correct myself Kai was signed as special restricted player based on an article from NBL but based on that link it doesnt count against the salary cap. What would hinder Adelaide or anyone to pay Kai multimillion?
Key numbers/figures in NBL salary cap system (2020 - 2021):
10-man roster per team
2 import players per team (3 for 2021/22 season)
1 NBL Next Stars player per team (doesn’t count against cap)
1 Special Restricted Player per team (doesn’t count against cap)
1 Marquee Player per team (unless import is switched out for another)
MAX NBL Player Contract Length: 3 years
Soft salary cap: $1.43 million AUD/per year (approx. $1.1 million USD)
Teams above salary cap pay luxury tax fee, shared amongst other NBL teams
Min. salary cap [teams must spend this much]: $1.28 AUD million (approx. $972k USD)
Five lowest paid players per team cannot have salary add up to 40% of salary cap
Lowest salary allowed (U25 players): $17,000 AUD (approx. $12,000 USD)
Lowest salary allowed (regular nationals): $55,000 AUD (approx. $41,000 USD)
Will his agent accept a measly 100k? He will have other offers abroad.lol
What is prohibited is classifying a player as a reserve or development player but playing him as a marquee player. The classification system is there for a purpose..

Kai has been receiving way more media mileage than any young prospect and that would somehow give hint to his value as a player. His jersey was even on presale after his signing. He is the only player as far as I know that had that arrangement.Last edited by PeeZones; 08-17-2021, 08:26 AM.

You're quessing again to fit your narrative , $500k is not the limit for the next star program. There is no stipulated limit . But it would be senseless not to use the free money not from the 36ers pockets some of the money the league office offers for next star program sign ups . If say the league can only afford $500k , there is nothing stopping 36ers on adding to that.
Secondly the 36ers do not even have a next star program sign up yet . So there is no need to reserve it for another player, use it on Kai, every team would.
3rdly , don't you get the concept of Maximum of ONLY 4 marquee players allowed, all Imports are counted as marquee players (max 3), a Australian or NZ local can be a marquee player. The 36ers with its 3 imports and Johnson have already used the max 4 for marquee players .
So everyone else in the team CANNOT be paid like a marquee player, not counting the next star player (which Kai isNot)
So basically the 36ers can no longer pay a 5th player (Kai) like a marquee player . Period.
If they could then the rule serves no purpose .
BTW the NZ Breakers have done exactly what you're suggesting get 2 young stars, one is Dieng as their next star program sign up and Hugo Besson as their import. (Hugo is in the 2022 mock drafts).. if the 36 ers want to do what you're suggesting, then, that is how you do it classify Kai as an open import that has marquee status and is paid as one .
It is obviously clear that you're wrong .
In fact I've already pitched Kai to an NBL team, (spoke directly to head coach and management), and there where no takers for Kai as a next star program sign up or as an open import . But only Asian import (cause that's his level, Baba level-) he will get Baba level minutes , 15 minutes and is paid like an Asian import. (Which is similar to a reserve local, look at the guide )Last edited by DAdmiral; 08-17-2021, 09:58 AM.

BTW obviously the 36ers are not the only income and the only ones who pay Kai.
But the 36ers playing in the NBL is the platform for Kai to play and be seen. So revenue through his popularity can only happen if he plays for a team in a league.
So to answer question why would Kai settle for a $150k annual contract, well if by playing for the 36ers , he gets extra revenue (broadcast share etc) he can get an extra $200 k, then yeah , it's a worthwhile deal and arrangement, EWP and his agents would find lucrative.

Your making things way complicated. Is there a precedent for a player to receive xdeals included in his contract? Your chinese example was a fluke. Also, no team would forego signing a next star unless they dont see a use for that player. It would either just be a disruption and a distraction. Lamelo only played 12 games and hampton played 15.
Adelaide didnt violate any rules when they signed two young prospect and Mojave might be their next star signing. Also, you should take note that new broadcasting deals provided new funds for possible leeways. Imports dont command a lot of money.
You were just assuming that adelaide dont have the money for Kai. How they do it isnt really important but what really matters is that Kai is receiving substantial. There was a blog posted several times here about limits of salaries.
Kai would put a lot revenues to adelaide just by his mere size as an attraction, his jersey sales, his ticket sales and possible broadcasting deals that would arise because of kai.Last edited by PeeZones; 08-17-2021, 03:40 PM.

COMPLICATED? ITS so simple Adelaide has already signed its maximum number of 4 marquee players (all 3 imports are automatically marquee players regardless of how little they are paid ), Johnson and Humpries locals are 2 marquee player and they've signed 2 imports already
Noting else to discuss.
It's not about if 36ers have more money or if want to give Kai more money because of his popularity. They can't at least not in the official player contract . (Of course anyone can pay him for likeness and endorsement anything)
This isn't the Philippines where people can do work around to the rules, there is a reason for the 4 marquee max rule. If it can easily be cheated , then it's not an effective and useless rule.
The thing is you're acting like you know anything about how things are done in the NBL and Australia, which YOU DO NOT.
Anyone involved in league or who has had any engagement (which I have) will all say , what you're claiming is INCORRECT.
No team will have 4 marquee sign ups and use the Asian import classification to pay a player as a marquee player. That's total nonsense, never will that happen in the NBL context.
If that's possible then all the richer teams will all do the same and do the same work around making a mockery of the 4 marquee max ruleLast edited by DAdmiral; 08-17-2021, 11:36 PM.

You obviously don't know much about the NBL
Adelaide has never used a next star signing as you stated
Mojave (king)? He's not even a next star sign up but played for Taipans last year (if u read what next star means , u would know your statement is ignorance), I've worked with his dad, and I know his deal.
You're really just guessing and throwing all these guessing theories. Your statements are out of ignoranceLast edited by DAdmiral; 08-17-2021, 08:50 PM.

the 4 Marquee player rule illustrated.
Here is illustration that I'm privy of the 4 player marquee NBL rule working, ( the new zealand breakers)
For locals ( Australian and NZ citizens) the marquee rule is designed to keep them domestically instead of getting bigger contracts overseas. For NZ the Webster brothers of Corey and Tai , who have well documented stints in Europe , have decided to play in NZ (next season) , so that's 2 players signed up to marquee contracts taken up.
The Breakers have also confirmed signing of an Import, Guard France Hugo Besson ( 2022 NBA mock draft) , that's 3 marquee players signed .
The Breakers have used their next star allocation on Dieng of France ( next star not counted as marquee player and paid by league front office)
Coach Shamir who I've talked to wants to use the 4th marquee player on an big man import ( Iverson) for much needed inside presence .
Now here is the thing , if you followed the news , Peyton Silva a PG ( ex NBA) import has been rumored to sign with the Breakers. (that's a 5th marquee player) and if anyone is wondering why signining cannot be made , is YES , the breakers are over the limit. and is also for this reason that the Breakers are looking to move Corey Webster ( a marquee player) to Brisbane to make way for Silva a PG
Read here for more .. https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/basket...bster-in-nbl22
Now to Kai... He was offered to the Breakers as either an Import or next star program. We tried the Asian Import ( but unfortunately spot is taken up by Li) , the Breakers did not see Kai as worthy of either a next star program or open import. (BTW the next star sign ups have to be assessed by the league as next year 1st round draft prospect , so it's moot Kai is not) ,
Listen to those who know the NBL league , (the one's who really follow it) and anyone who really knows the league is predicting Kai to be a reserve player ( 10 to 15 min) this really fits his classification -ASP and more importantly how all the teams have acted in regards to signing Kai, remember 9 different other teams could sign Kai and beat the 36ers to securing him. they each had 3 import spots to use on Kai and pay him whatever . They didn't , and it's not like Kai was not offered to them , they did , i personally talked to the breakers about it.Last edited by DAdmiral; 08-17-2021, 11:56 PM.

https://nbl.com.au/news/mojave-king-...6ers-for-nbl22
Following his rookie season with the Cairns Taipans, Next Star Mojave King will relocate to the Adelaide 36ers for the 2021/22 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
The NBL Next Stars program is focused on player development and progression. King, the NBL and the Cairns Taipans were aligned that a change of environment is the best move for his second season.
Honestly, i really dont believe on your claims because you have been wrong countless times. I would always lean on a legit site who released Kai's salary over just your takes.
I know for a fact that you were once connected to some Gilas exhibition but after that i dont believe that you were still in the loop in all activities and other things.lol Also, i dont think EWP will need you to sell Kai. They are way capable on their own and they dont need someone who devalues Kai. NBL giving a lot of attention and media mileage doesnt sound that no one will be taking Kai. As far as I understood from previous presscon by EWP and Kai, it was them who selected and not like what you always insinuate that they were begging for teams to take them.lol
Multi-million or at least a million doesnt sound like a contract that is begging for takers. That contracts implies that EWP was in control with the negotiation same with how SBP cant have his way with them.

1. there is nothing in the article that says the 36ers Mojave agreement is signed with the next star program of the NBL, for one , it's a total contradictory of how the next star program works, it's for next year NBA draft prospects, and it's only for one year, and it's also only for one NBL team. next star is for rookies season , Mojave is signed as a regular player of the 36ers for his 2nd season, read the article again please
2. So what legit site, gave an definitive amount of kai's Salary (not headlines) and have you read the content body of that legit site you're claiimng, do you want to copy the contents that has a definitive amount or even a reference to the headline, show me, (ive seen as some here have read the article who are subscribers)
on 2 occasions you used 2 articles, that never even claimed what you're suggesting, this is pure stupidity already
my connection to Gilas has no relevance , no one needs to hype or undersell anyone, teams will find talent and sign them at their right level. Kai was signed as an Asian import like Baba as a reserve player / not marguee , period. it is what it is
The fact is all your speculations are INCORRECT.
1.you don't even know who is EWP,
2.you don't even know how the NBL works, with its player classification system and it's purpose
3you don't even know the rules, and your speculations are contradictory to the rules as well as all the communications regarding Kai
1st it should tell you something that he was not signed by the NBL for the next star program
2nd there were 27 spots for open imports that were paid as marquee players and no one signed kai under that classification (NO ONE)
3rd No team will have 4 marquee sign ups and use the Asian import classification to pay a player as a marquee player. That's total nonsense!
1. 2. 3 puro Mali , incorrect, makes your speculation total non sense and not possibleLast edited by DAdmiral; 08-18-2021, 06:20 AM.
