I really want Kai to polish his medium range jump shot & be taking more of those shots in actual games. I think if Kai develops a pretty decent mid-range shot, he would become a very solid offensive player that would be very very difficult to contain. With Kai having that ability to put the ball on the floor for drives or slash to the lane, having a deadly mid-range jumper would make him a defensive nightmare for opponents. Opposing team's defense would be in dilemma as to how to contain Kai's mid-range game. Defense would be compelled to close out on Kai in the perimeter knowing he can hit it from mid-range, but sticking too close on Kai would make it easier for him to drive to the lane. True, taking us back to the Korea game, Ratliff AKA Ra Gun Ah actually doesn't have a way to block Kai's mid-range and 3 points shot, (just hard to block a 7'2 - 7'3 player), he really has to commit in order to do so, and if he does, that means a blow-by by Kai, so he chose to sag off. He has a decent medium range shooting. He shooting stroke is like David Robinson. I hope he continues to focus on medium range shooting and not follow to much the trend of shooting threes. The defensive dilemma would be that if the defender sticks too much on Kai from the perimeter, it would be easier for Kai to blow him by since Kai has a pretty decent driving or slashing skills for a big guy. i think he is starting to learn to do more pump fakes and drive.The key is if he can increase more his perimeter shooting percentage, he can be hard to stop. Perimeter shooting ala Kevin Garnett, Duncan, David Robinson is a lost art of bigs today. I've seen how lethal & accurate Patrimonio's mid-range jumpers were & he can take it from all angles.
