KQ has a higher upside than Tamayo because of athleticism. Tamayo doesn't jump that higher when he is inside the paint

    • KQ is quickly becoming a fan favorite in Sokor because he plays with such passion. The quality of a guy like Alvano who plays cool like Tim Duncan may get overlooked by casuals.

Man, PBA lost a budding marketable homegrown superstar in KQ. It's hard not to root for him when he plays.

KQ's energy reminds me of pinoy boxers, just gritty and full of energy but is far from dirty and tryhard to compensate for lack of skills or size like Abueva. Tamayo is still good though, just not very flashy, they have different upsides and can definitely be played at the same time, KQ can play JB and Dwight's position while Tamayo is a stretch 4. One thing you got to admit though is that KQ's development in gilas would be insane if Tab remained as the HC and program director

                • I’m going to be that guy but he’s shooting 31% from 3 with a 38% total field goal percentage. Not exactly ideal if we are talking Gilas

It's all about development, Dwight Ramos was absolutely mid with almost no career stats to go off of when Tab was playing him in gilas. Don't forget that without developmental coach we would never have had a Dwight Ramos in the nt. KQ is way past his due to get etched into the program, he should already have been getting played against Indonesia, Thailand and tuneup games before he even went pro

The difference is he's getting a lot of PT and touches, something he might never get in Gilas. People are expecting a lot of things from players who barely plays 10 minutes a games. I like him as a player buy he'll never come close to the player he's supposed to be if they're not getting minutes. And he's not the only one suffering from lack of burn.

I am not sure what you mean by we would never have had a Dwight Ramos in the NT.

He was included for the 23 for 23 by Chot, way before the 2021 CTB Gilas era. I think even if he was not picked by CTB, he would be most likely get by CCR anyway because he was in in the list for WC 2023 anyway.

Right now he’s a chucker because he’s leaned on to be a scorer, aside from being a secondary playmaker. No accountability whatsoever and can take whatever shots he likes, ill advised or what not. Better shot selection can make wonders with those percentages.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

What? almost none of the players in that list became even practice players for gilas. I was high on Paras, Rike and Juan GDL back then but that's besides the point, it was a failed developmental roadmap, Dwight was only successful and got picked by a BLeague team because of his stint in Tab's gilas before a single point in a professional career

Are you saying Tab didnt develop Dwight? Dwight was practically a nobody in college. He became Gilas go to guy. He had guys like Toroman saying he could already play in the Euro league. Dwight literally became somebody during his stint in Tabs Gilas.
