  • I know it's very longshot, but wouldn't it be amusing if the ones who make it to the NBA were our guards?

We don't produce that many guys above 6'8+.

So, statistically speaking, guard and wing players should be where we have the best prospects.

Bulok lang talaga ang sistema dito.

That could be true, but also statistically consider the number of competition.

Like in football, we have the size for it, but so does the rest of the whole world so the competition population suddenly just rose exponentially.

The taller the player, the lesser the competition, just like in Kai's case (roughly speaking, he has to outplay maybe 1,000 7-footers, while a 6-foot guard has to outplay maybe a million).

What we need to do is develop our few extremely tall players the correct way. They already won the genetic lottery and narrowed down their competition, it's just a matter of following through with correct development.

        • everyone should train as a guard first. bigs with guard skills are very hard to defend.

It’s more probable for a guard to make it since there are so many of them. Especially with a basketball crazy population, however despite this, countries with less people consistently produce nba talent. The development environment needs to be better especially at an earlier stage.

I knew this all along when I stood next to Mike Phillips and little me sized him up at St. Lukes. There's no way that KQ is 6'6 when I can clearly see that Phillips is taller than him on TV... and I've had 6'4 and 6'3 classmates in school decades ago. Those who insist KQ was taller than 6'4 definitely don't know anyone taller than 6'2... and I don't have to mention what I think about the Philippine Star and its perennial bullshitter.

Now we gotta unfortunately thank Chot freaking Reyes for taking KQ out of the post and on to the wing. Seeing those UAAP juniors clips of Kai's AHS years vs a stacked NUNS team with Tamayo, Quiambao, and Abadiano... they were really hell-bent or tiring Sotto even if it meant attacking the basket and getting stuffed. I'm convinced if nobody saw how versatile KQ was for those makeshift Gilas teams under Chot, KQ would have been another Prince Rivero.

Makes me wonder who are/is the people who insinuated that KQ's injury would take about 4 weeks to heal?
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Well I remember him being listed at 6'8 and people were debating what his real height is. Most pegged him at around 6'5 to 6'6. Being lest than 6'4 though he would really have to play the wing. Even the much maligned Rosario was measured at 6'5 something

KBL officially measured him at 6' 4.75"... someone "rounds" it off to 6'4" (yep someone rounded off 475 to 400)...and now he's less than 6'4"

Most level-headed people had him at 6'5" (which turns out to be pretty close and is probably the case after a stretching session). Meanwhile, no one's bothering to measure/mention his wingspan and hand size.

No the source of this corrected himself. It is now 6’3.75. He’s just 6’4. Carls latest info is 6’6.5. A bit taller from the previous statement a little over 6’6.

Carl’s height makes sense I think given Balti’s PBA measurement is 6’6.75. Balti looks shorter than Carl when they are side by side. I think Balti when measured standing up willl be shorter than 6’6.5.

Then if that's accurate then yes, he's less than 6'4".

For me though, hopefully someone measures his wingspan and hand size. Those are more impactful.
