Sayang yung physical gifts nya. But it's his life, it is all his right whatever he does with it.

What surprised me somewhat, was he's attracted to certain type of showbiz women who seems to have the same reputation of someone so close to him.We all know the saying daughters will pick guys as close as to the type of their fathers.

Ildefonso and Panopio, below expectations… Years of struggle as team power not contributing
Interest in reducing Heo Hoon’s burden by recruiting point guard from ‘Philippine University MVP’

Suwon KT Sonic Boom, a professional basketball team, has newly recruited JD Kagulangan (Philippines), who is about to join. Kagulangan SNS capture

Suwon KT Sonic Boom, a professional basketball team, has recruited point guard JD Kagulangan (24), who was the MVP of the Philippine University League, and attention is being paid to whether the Asian quota player, who has been insignificant, will shine.

KT recruited Dave Ildefonso, who was called the ‘Philippine Huh Hoon’, as an Asian quota player in 2023, but fell short of expectations with an average of 4.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game, playing 13 minutes and 14 seconds in 44 games over two seasons.

This season, they recruited Dalph Panopio (Philippines), but the contract was terminated without even being used due to a back injury and lack of skill. In order to avoid repeating the pain, KT selected Kagulangan after a long search. He is currently going through the administrative procedures required for registration, such as visa issuance, and he is expected to join the team soon.

Kagulangan is a short guard with a height of 175 cm, and his strengths include speed, individual skills, and outside shots. He was the MVP of the University of the Philippines (UAAP) and played in 87 games in the UAAP last season, averaging 11.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists.

KT expects that if Kagulangan quickly integrates into the team and relieves the burden on ‘ace’ Heo Hoon and creates synergy with the existing players, he will be able to jump to the top ranks and gain momentum for his first challenge for the national championship. In addition, depending on the situation, he can operate the ‘two-guard system’ with Heo Hoon, which will allow for strategic diversification.

KT coach Song Young-jin said, “I know Kagulangan as a player with outstanding individual skills, especially his leading and assisting abilities,” and added, “I expect him to fill in for Heo Hoon, who is not in perfect condition after returning from injury.”

Meanwhile, the Asian quota system introduced in the 2020-2021 season to increase league competitiveness has been well-received for its top-notch skills, with players such as Issun Albano (Wonju DB), SJ Belangel (Daegu Korea Gas Corporation), and Karl Tamayo (Changwon LG), while Kelvin Epistola played a key role in Busan KCC's victory last season.

Fans' expectations are rising as to whether Kagulangan can break KT's 'Asian quota dark history' and be a great addition to the team's strength.
Dafuq is up with the "Asian Quota Dark History?"

It seems there were more gems than duds among the KBL's Asian imports. Abarrientos, Belangel, Alvano, Tamayo, Gutang, and Abando all did well or are doing well in the KBL.

            • 37pts-7reb-3ast for Carl Tamayo. He had 15/15 2pt FG and 2/4 3pt FG. Too bad they lost. Gutang also had a good game with 15pts-6reb-3ast.

His game reminds me of Boris Diaw.

                  • Wow! Tamayo is getting better & better as time goes by. He may be turning out to be better than former Iran power forward Oshin Sahakian - the player I'm comparing him with.

A poster here may be right in saying that if Tamayo has the athleticism of Francis Lopez, he might be playing in the NBA. Tamayo's transfer from B-league to the KBL is the best decision a certain young player ever made in his career. I just hope Tamayo doesn't suffer any serious injury in his career.

Guys, do U think this kind of performance by Tamayo would earn him some increase in playing in Gilas?
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Easily the starting PF if we’re playing up-tempo.

Hopefully he can avail himself to one or two NBA summer camp,he doesn't need to play in a Summer League, what he can learn from those camps will probably take his game to the next level.

                        • Carl Tamayo and Carmelo Anthony have the same barefoot height, 6'6.25. But Carmelo's height in the NBA is listed as 6'8 with shoes. So Tamayo would be 6'8 by NBA standards

He has now surpassed Sahakian who is not known for his offensive prowess.

Transition to SF is nearly complete if he has that slashing ability to the basket, and the ball is not fumbled.
