    KQ to pursue degree
Two-time UAAP MVP Kevin Quiambao will stay enrolled at De La Salle University to finish his course in Sports Management while playing for the Goyang Sono Skygunners in the Korean Basketball League. He has asked La Salle’s Office of Sports Development if his scholarship could be continued in pursuing his studies online or homeschooling.

"He said there has been a delay in issuing his Korean visa and his expected departure is on Jan. 6. Quiambao noted that his first game with Goyang will be against either KCC Egis on Jan. 11 or Mobis Phoebus on Jan. 15. If his debut will be on Jan. 11, Quiambao will play 27 games until the end of the KBL regular season on April 8."

"Alex Cabagnot and Joshua Torralba were Asian heritage imports who previously suited up for Goyang. A Filipino may be classified as an Asian heritage import if both parents are Filipino. A Fil-foreigner with mixed parentage is not eligible."

Twitterian korean @Baekpd1983 already said this 3 years ago. So QMB cannot play in KBL as an Asian heritage import, but as a world import he can...

Let's just be glad he prefers to stay on the court.

Ramos has genuine love for basketball, while Kobe has a genuine love for wine, women and song and the extras that showbiz brings into it.

        • A tale of two Kobes. Both born with looks, height/athleticism, money, connections. One stayed maniacally focused and used all his talents/gifts to the fullest and become world elite in every endeavor he entered... while the other cashed out early and is seemingly content just doing enough to live the good and easy life.

It's highly likely that Kobe B has some sort of psychological anomaly and is exceptionally rare...while majority of people usually go the Kobe P route without realizing it (most just weren't born with the same gifts so they have to work a little bit harder just to achieve a good and easy life).

Nah, I don't think Kobe loves attention, if he really cares about him being famous, he would not stop playing basketball as his surname alone would generate buzz, let alone his play and face.

                  Agree.
In the Philippines, the key to being popular are either play professional basketball, enter showbiz or engage into politics. Kobe Paras is neither in any of those worlds at this moment.

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Interest in reducing Heo Hoon’s burden by recruiting point guard from ‘Philippine University MVP’

Suwon KT Sonic Boom, a professional basketball team, has newly recruited JD Kagulangan (Philippines), who is about to join. Kagulangan SNS capture

Suwon KT Sonic Boom, a professional basketball team, has recruited point guard JD Kagulangan (24), who was the MVP of the Philippine University League, and attention is being paid to whether the Asian quota player, who has been insignificant, will shine.

KT recruited Dave Ildefonso, who was called the ‘Philippine Huh Hoon’, as an Asian quota player in 2023, but fell short of expectations with an average of 4.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game, playing 13 minutes and 14 seconds in 44 games over two seasons.

This season, they recruited Dalph Panopio (Philippines), but the contract was terminated without even being used due to a back injury and lack of skill. In order to avoid repeating the pain, KT selected Kagulangan after a long search. He is currently going through the administrative procedures required for registration, such as visa issuance, and he is expected to join the team soon.

Kagulangan is a short guard with a height of 175 cm, and his strengths include speed, individual skills, and outside shots. He was the MVP of the University of the Philippines (UAAP) and played in 87 games in the UAAP last season, averaging 11.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists.

KT expects that if Kagulangan quickly integrates into the team and relieves the burden on ‘ace’ Heo Hoon and creates synergy with the existing players, he will be able to jump to the top ranks and gain momentum for his first challenge for the national championship. In addition, depending on the situation, he can operate the ‘two-guard system’ with Heo Hoon, which will allow for strategic diversification.

KT coach Song Young-jin said, “I know Kagulangan as a player with outstanding individual skills, especially his leading and assisting abilities,” and added, “I expect him to fill in for Heo Hoon, who is not in perfect condition after returning from injury.”

Meanwhile, the Asian quota system introduced in the 2020-2021 season to increase league competitiveness has been well-received for its top-notch skills, with players such as Issun Albano (Wonju DB), SJ Belangel (Daegu Korea Gas Corporation), and Karl Tamayo (Changwon LG), while Kelvin Epistola played a key role in Busan KCC's victory last season.

Fans' expectations are rising as to whether Kagulangan can break KT's 'Asian quota dark history' and be a great addition to the team's strength.

so long as he is happy I wish him luck. i actually havent read or heard any interview of someone asking him if he actually wants to pursue basketball or its just because of his Dad. i guess he will love bball like his bro, but his heart probably isnt there. fans just want to force him, dictator/authoritarian style, to play bball because he has height and agility that we lack at the wings.
