        • Andy is lowkey getting all the reps he needs for that D1 offer.

          20ppg, 9rpg, and 6.5apg

If he can keeps this up until next year, we might see him getting that D1 dream.

Although this is not the main tournament they are playing which is the OSBA.

but still, there are scouts watching and based on their IG page, NPH tournament is kinda big too.

How competitive is this high school tournament in Canada that Andy Gemao is playing in which he is registering eye-popping stats?

            • Tama ba yung observation ka that Andy Gemao plays hard-nosed defense?

I just hope Gemao pursues his college studies & basketball in the US & not in the Philippines. KasI pag sa Pinas sya magka college, he might be compelled to play as a shooting guard instead of point guard. U want Gemao as a point guard than as a shooting guard. It would be better for Phi basketball that Gemao ends up as a point guard than as a shooting guard.

Maybe in 2 to 3 years time Gemao wud be good enough to be integrated to the Gilas senior program.

Pretty competitive, been following his games, his teammates are D1 level (have D1 offers) and the main guard on his team is a Canada u18 national team guard. His comp also is high leve(D1 offers as well)l. He’s playing back up mostly for his team off the bench. Good news is he looks like he belongs on this level, doesn’t necessarily stand out and he’s not better than the main guy on the team for now but I do think he can play D1 if he continues to improve

Northpolehoops is kind of like ballislife of Canada but way more legitimate scouting service, NCAA D1 scouts come to these kind of tournaments

Maybe not that competitive compare to their main OSBA tournament.

Although it still looks like it is a high-level tournament because they still have their complete lineup with Justin Haseley (which is the main PG of Canada Youth Team).

In the OSBA tournament, his stats is playing at 7ppg and a couple of assist and rebs. Although to be fair, he has limited playing time on their games their.

But you can see that he is part of their system, because most of those limited minutes he is playing are getting spent on 4th quarter. Whether lopsided or not.

He’s definitely trying to use his minutes wisely, plays hard defense. Good news is he’s getting time with the ball in his hands even if it sometimes gets a little ugly it’s good for his development as a guard for the next level

He actually mostly plays as shooting guard even in Royal Crown, XD.

When he and Justin are both on the floor, he plays as spot-up shooter.

He just can't facilitate on his own, because it is Justin's team tbh.

                      • I mean Andy's skills and physique is good for the PG standard of US NCAA anyway.

An athletic guard who can handle the ball well. Can penetrate and plays hard defense. Shooting is Andy's weakness at this point but that can be improved.

He is comparable to JJ Mandaquit who is a small guard too, he might not good as Andy on driving to the basket, but his high-IQ (super high tbh) as a PG compensate for that. He is athletic too.

That's nice to hear about Gemao. At 18 yrs of age, he is still very young so ok lang if at this stage he is still learning to play as a point guard. The important thing is, he gets the reps playing in high level basketball & playing as a point guard.

                          • “Filipino U18 team PG Andy Gemao has been really impressive in his Canadian debut with Royal Crown, both this weekend & last. Incredibly skilled, crafty guard who plays with IQ & toughness on both ends. Great pace and quickness, hard to stay in front of.

I think outside shooting can be improved easier than an aspect like ball handling. I've seen PBA players who used to have suspect outside shooting when they were in their early or even mid-20's but were able to improved it throughout their careers. Jayson Castro's 3-pt shooting wasn't that sharp when he was in his early 20's. So as Willie Miller's. But both Castro & Miller have become deadly from 3-pt distance. Kiefer Ravena's 3 pt shooting was almost non-existent during his early 20's, but look at him now. Di mo sya pweding iwanan na bukas from 3pt range.
