He is getting paid paid for sure. Now Thirdy's part of BLeague's growth in East Asia and Euroleague's expansion to Dubai.
This is where Thirdy comes in. Theoretically, if Dubai can't get the local populace to watch (due to lack of interest), then bring in a skilled Filipino player to hopefully attract Pinoy OFW's to watch their games.
Then they gotta ball out otherwise they'll get blown tf out possibly with Thirdy at the end of the bench behind legit Adriatic League players because Emiratis know Filipinos will pay anything to watch a fellow Pinoy. If they get relegated right away, I don't see Thirdy staying long. As for the EuroCup, it's a longshot but much higher competition than the EASL/BCL Asia for sure.
*edit
It's got Jayson Castro NBL Singapore Slingers vibes... but we never saw that with the Slingers losing money to travel costs and ended up in the ABL then Castro decided to go apply for the PBA draft instead. I do think this is Thirdy's last stop before going to the PBA. It's just a matter of how long he's gonna last in this league.
The guy just won the Most Outstanding Asian Player award in the B-League. I'm sure he'll have no problem getting a spot in a B-League team if BC Dubai doesn't pan out.

When Thirdy entertained the idea of going abroad years ago, the goal for him was to be available for FIBA competitions while developing his game... that was before the SEA Games Silver and he hasn't been called up since. With Cone and this SBP, it's clear that just like Abando and a host of others, they're not on the same boat as a Dwight, Kai, Edu or even Carl and KQ for that matter if they end up abroad. Does he have a legit shot of making a Gilas squad? Probably not. Do things change if he's in the PBA? Depends where he ends up. If this deal with BC Dubai pushes through, it still won't change the fact that he's not preferred for international competition despite being the most exposed to it.

Thirdy's talent is not in question but his fit is.
Add to that their loss to Indonesia with his brother. People seemed to have lost faith in them. It's those moments where they should have stepped up.
But yeah.. He's just 27 years old and he can still prove SBP that he's worthy of inclusion. I'm rooting for him.

Who knows, he might be the guy UAE will recruit for their national team that it should be for Quiambao.. if UAE recruit him, if I were thirdy then I will accept it without any hesitation...

Thirdy's handles as well as where majority of his points come from (inside the paint) are reasons I wouldn't consider him.
Just watch his scout videos, majority ng mga attempts nya ay turn around post up plays against bigger opponents.
That and CTC's premium on size means Thirdy has to compete with Dwight and Newsome for a guard spot. Very hard kasi marami ng players in the 6'0-6'4 who can play it better than him.

Eric Gordon and now Thon Maker did it.. and with UAE money plus they are under "developing basketball nation", this is possible.. UAE basketball is not yet a threat anyway, so no one bats an eye if they did it... Thirdy can stay atleast 5 years in Dubai for residency...
