    • Juan signed a 3 year contract.
Juan Gomez de Liaņo looks to have more playing time in the Korean Basketball League after scarcely playing in his previous stops in Japan and Lithuania

Tagalugin ko na sa'yo kasi malamang hindi. Ibig sabihin niyan, hindi binibilang ang sweldo ng dalawang pinaka-mahal na player na taga-UK sa isang team.

You have to establish if Edu is foreign player which he actually is by FIBA (and can demand upto $170K/year salary) and his actual worth to a BBL team (of which the cap is $345K, not $250K) knowing that he was getting minimum $100K for 1 injury-ridden season in Japan, if he can sneak in a British National, which he is too. Anyway, the point being that on just basing it on playing less so as not to end up being damaged goods for FIBA... AJ Edu might consider playing in the UK where he is actually from. I think the problem is you overrate Filipino basketball players too much when the lot of them will end up broke if not assistant coaches by the time they're done playing. Believe me, he'd be better off as a role player in the UK lasting years than a flash in the pan in the PBA where he'll definitely get injured after 3 seasons with how his career has turned out so far.

Fucking hell, these Brits are smarter than they smell. Imagine if a PBA team can only have two Php420K/month local players and spread all Php50M/year across the entire squad? The problem is these prima donnas in the PBA also count bonuses as if they deserve profit sharing even the owner's business sucks but they win a championship.
Still lower bro… did you here any professional ballers overseas considered British league as their backup destination? Stop hating PBA… even they have some problems today.. it still good option for our ballers… Jeron Teng has higher salary than most of best local players of British ballers… Teng is a benchwarmer in SMB…

The Koreans would love him and he can play his much prefered 3 position or a combo forward, definitely he will be a tall perimeter shooting big man for Gilas with a stint with KBL.

          • The bulldozer will go pro

Geo Chiu will no longer suit up for his senior year with Ateneo de Manila University. The 6-foot-10 big man made his debut for the Taiwan Mustangs in the second leg of the 2024 Asian Tournament on Tuesday at the City of Passi Arena. By playing in the league, Chiu is no longer eligible to […]

i can't find any meaningful information about the asian tournament. who is hosting/sponsoring this? i noticed some players were from bay area dragons and the ABL. is this meant to replace the ABL?

              • How good are the teams in The Asian Tournament? My assumption is that, it is MPBL level? I mean, Gerald Anderson is playing in one of the teams..

Seriously?WTH Geo did ok,not shy in banging with the big guys and I think his billed height of 6'10 kinda exaggerated, that's probably with shoes on,probably just a notch or two over 6'9.

Besides Ethan Alvano, SJ Belangel and maybe Justin Gutang the other players (Dave Ildefonso, Juan Gomez De Liano, Joshua Torralba and Ava Nava) are most likely to be let go of their respective teams. Tamayo though looks like he is leaning towards playing in Korea.

                    • The salary cap just hurts the KBL. They dont fake it unlike the PBA I think.

                          Agree.
I feel Carl has a significantly better chance of blossoming in the KBL than in the B-league since only 1 world import gets to play at a time in every KBL team (each KBL team is allowed 2 world imports but only 1 import gets to play at a time). A B-league team on the other hand is allowed to have 3 world imports (although only 2 can play at a time) & each team is allowed to have 1 Japanese naturalized player. And there are a lot of Japanese NP in the B-league. Hence some B-league teams have 3 imports (counting the NP) in its starting 5. Since most of these worlds imports & naturalized players in Japan are big men, mahihirapan talaga mga Asian imports playing as bigs to get ample playing time in the B-league unless of course you're a Kai Sotto or an AJ Edu.

yup, it boils down to ATHLETICISM, Kai Sotto is just toying with the Bleague imports, they cannot stop his above the rim plays.

Now if only Carl Tamayo has that athleticism of Abando, he will surely destroy the imports

                            • I think Carl Tamayo's development has stalled in the last 1 year becoz of the limited exposure he got from playing with his B-league team. While I'm convinced that the B-league has a higher level of competition compared to the PBA (well the 3-world import per team in the B-league has a lot to do with it), I think if our Pinoy players will get limited exposure & playing time in the B-league, it would still be better for them in so far as development is concerned if they play in the PBA where there's a high chance they will get ample playing time & opportunities. I feel its not really adviceable for our big men to play in the B-league unless of course they are in the level of a Kai Sotto or an AJ Edu. The respective experiences of Justin Baltazar & Carl Tamayo in Japan should serve as a lesson.

I feel B-league is a good destination for our quality wingmen & guards, but for our big men, it isn't.

AJ would be better served if he goes the Kouame route,go to a lower tiered Euro team, then work his way up to Div1.Of all the Gilas big men tho,he got plenty of minutes in Bleague and he seems to be a tad better than some of the WI.
