I think Heading also did fairly well playing for the Strong Group Athletics in a Dubai international tournament last January.
forgot who interviewed him (Snow?) but he said after his last B league stint, he had visa problems. not sure if until now he does.

    • So it's B.League or PBA draft for Rhenz if there's no taker from KBL teams.

"I heard that Rhenz Abando is happy with his current life and is well regarded within the club. But he is small in size and lacks the resources for forwards within the club. So it is unlikely that he will sign a new contract with him," JKJ club Manager said in an interview.

Not sure he can make it in the B league, which has more imports. Basically at 6’1-6’2 he needs to transition into a guard. The PBA might not also be good for him. Mac Belo had a similar lean and perimeter oriented built. Belo bulked up in the PBA but still got his knee injured. The guy is still looking for his niche in the PBA with diminished capability post injury.

The PBA might be more dangerous for Abando. His high flying acts through traffic would not be advisable in the PBA. Even in any league actually given his slight frame. It was always a risk that he would bump a bigger body while skying high. Look at how Thirdy changed his body to compensate for this.

All in all it I dont see a better picture for Abando moving forward unless he moves to guard.

        • What happened to sj?

          What injury?

          Apparently out for the season.

I think this is similar to Paul George’s injury years ago. Broken or fractured shin. This is terrible. Lately Filipino ballers suffering horrible injuries in Korea. Abando sidelined months with a back injury

I don’t watch his games but stats say he’s shooting 21% from 3 in the KBL this season which is way lower than last year where he shot 36%. A lot of his game also relies on his athleticism and without it, he won’t be as effective as a player.

And guess who the other player involved, chinanu onuaku, same guy who injured renz abando. Video doesn't prove much, but its suspicious of him to land directly under sj.

Looks like his leg hit SJ's left leg, causing SJ to fall down. Hence, no landing space for Onuaku, who then fell on SJ.

                  • That can not be incidental anymore. Onuaku has already cheap-shotted SJ 2 times before. Two-hands to the face, then hip-check and now this. Strike 3.

Add to that the hit on airborne Abando.

                      Turns out it's a contusion/bruise: https://twitter.com/baekpd1983/statu...Ph4q_fOxw&s=19

                      • So just a bone bruise for SJ. I wonder what’s up with Onuaku. Did a Pinoy steal his girl or something that he has an axe to grind with our kababayans in the KBL?

I've been saying it when pinoys were dubbing SJ "the Korean Killer."

Koreans are very nationalistic and proud. They are also very chippy when it comes to sports. It won't be surprising if pinoys playing well in their own league is rubbing some people the wrong way.

                          • I dont see how that is relevant to Onuaku though, unless someone is petty enough to pay him to hurt Filipinos on the court

This is pure speculation on my part. Teammates talk in the locker room, everyone knows everyone in the league, guys do favors for teammates. In short, I don't know. What I do know is he's already done at least three cheapshots towards SJ plus the Abando undercut. It's looking like Draymond when it comes to euros.

He's also known to be a bit eccentric, he's the guy who became famous for shooting his free throws arinola style (from his testicles).
