Decent guards theyre coach by the current nt coach and their the no. One team in lebanese league
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
    1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

    • Barefield still looks good overall. The Lebanon team just looked like the better team. Charles has the smaller and inferior overall lineup so I get that he usually milks the 24s clock. Barefield could at times have gotten a shot earlier but opted not to. Anyway, Jerom looked good. He was not perfect but he did not look overwhelmed against this team. I think Charles should have put him back in for more scoring punch but Charles opted for Cagu. Cagu is a good facilitator but might be too short to be a scoring threat against the Lebanese team. Strong group has 4 ineligibles but Nick Young is out of shape and seems to be favoring a leg. He can still shoot but thats the only thing. He cant run nor defend much.

Arakji is way better as an individual player than our today's guards but other Lebanese guards? We are not sure about that.

        • Yup I noticed that UP small guard Cagu , was getting stripped of the ball with length he's not used to. The game has changed were it is indeed a disadvantage when you have a PG under 5'11 going up against stronger more athletic 6'3 PGs,, they also can't finish when in the lane, this impacts the game more than than eye can see

Jerom is just around 5'10. But has good length and is explosive for a homegrown. He doesn't have the passing acumen and physicality of Cagu but is a good defender because of his tools and can make the basic reads. He is a bit overaged already but the way he played against this supposed no. 1 team of Lebanon says that he is overqualified for college already. He has been the best PG in college arguably since 2 years ago. I think he would've been a hit in KBL if he didnt finish out his eligibility.

Arakji is way better... He is already accustomed to high level competition even NZL and Australian guards (who played in FIBA Asia cup) are hard time to control him...

Yup i think Arakji is crafty, he can be off an bench player in the NBL ( ala Kai Minutes , but back up PG) , staring PG in the NBL are ex NBA players to give an idea of the level, the PGs that played in the Asia Cup ( Mitch and Div 1 Cemerron) will be rotation players in the NBL. In 2017 Asia Cup Shea Ili was recognize as the best guard, Shea is a starter in the NBL is a defensive player of the year candidate . Shea admittedly though is below the Webster brothers and Le Afa from a Euro and NBA interest stand point

BTW Bakerfield is NBL rotation level (if eligible as an SRP Asian import he can make a roster ) but can't make it as an Open import ( which is NBA level) The Pinoy homegrown PG's i don't think can make an NBL rotation like Kai is doing now ( 12 mins a game)

                • Our guards with the best background(D1) are Schonny and Heading. Heading tried in Australia and failed to make it. Lets see what Schonny has planned.

An issue here though is BLeague money > NBL money from what I understand.

                  • That's correct Issac Fotu refuses to play in the NBL due to pay , he get around $ 850k /season in Japan, something he can't get in the NBL.
Notice the NBL imports are on 1 yeae stints, reason being is they're sacrificing pay to get back into the NBA. , they can't sacrifice more than 1 year.

The NBL is getting a reputation as a stepping stone to make it into the NBA

Hope Schonny can be good enough to play beyond Asia. Unfortunately, his upside is slimming, as he just turned 25 last January.

                      But money talks, I guess.

I think the other Lebanese guards (aside from Arakji) are at par or even better than out top guards. The Lebanese premier pro league is a very competitive league. I say its higher than the level of competition in the PBA. Lebanon has a good pool of wingmen & guards. Its in the center spot where lebanese basketball is thin.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Guards, undersized wings, undersized tweeners, and undersized bigs who play like bigs are what Philippine basketball have in abundance, unlike in the likes of China, SoKor, Lebanon, Jordan, where you also have internationally-sized wings, good-sized fours with small skills, and in the case of Jordan and China, big centers.

Is there salary cap in NBL? I think they can match salaries of B-League, CBA and KBL... Especially in Japan and Korea, where basketball is not as famous as football or baseball, I understand China since basketball is huge there (no.1 sport in China)... But Japan and Korea? I monitored some of NBL matches, and in terms of gate attendance, it was good, sometimes games were sold out... Even Taiwan league are good in terms of salaries than NBL....
