Yes that's what sets him apart. His length compensates a bit for his height. But he is still undersized internationally and a bit slow to guard the perimeter. But if he plays with a good rim protector and a tall wing this can be compensated. He is really an above average passer.

Nobody posted this either from the same account. 10 pts in 20 mins avg as a general requirement for Asian quota players in the KBL. SJ doesn't get enough PT for that (even the Korean fans are frustrated with the KOGAS coach) and Justin Gutang isn't a scorer.

Koreans are really weird (atleast the KBL).

First, Asian import should have both parents Filipino citizens. Applying this rule, you eliminated the likes of Parks, Bolick, Kobe Paras, and all other players that are clearly raised in the Philippines but one of their parents is a foreigner.

          Now this, 10 pts within 20 minute-quota.
          Attack
          defend
          Unite

It becomes even weirder when they allow "full Filipino-blooded" players but are born and raised abroad. (Alavano)

            • Is he part of Philippine team? Robert Bolick is set to play in Taiwan T-league next month...

Filipino professional basketball player Robert Bolick is set to join Taiwan's T1 LEAGUE, according to online reports this week, following speculation after the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) standout missed the first three games of the league's ongoing Governors' Cup.

              • Koreans seem to put importance on outward appearance (has to look asian). Or they could be doing it to keep the athleticism to asian-level. Differences in leagues basically boils down to athleticism.

                • To be more specific it's level of pace and space ,
The ability to cover ground quickly, (horizontal (not vertical) length and speed. That is really the difference in levels

Tab mentioned it when we lost to DR, the speed is different, also showed when we lost to NZ in June 2022

And it's reason why Asia is zero wins vs European teams in FIBA since 2010 over 9 tournaments

Yeah that's a good way of putting it. I'd add pound-for-pound strength too, pinoys got a taste of JJ Barea's strength and realized why he's in the NBA at that size.

Shaky explanation. While it was a no bearing game, we beat Senegal in 2014, same tournament bracket they beat favorites Croatia.

If we're talking about pure Pinoys in blood who have horizontal speed then there's Helterbrand, Mark Nonoy, "Dirty Finger" Johnny A, etc. I think it's physical maturity, which affects both horizontal and vertical athleticism.

Add pound per pound ( Meta) , other nations have 6'4 players with length and longer steps with the same foot speed , we're also talking about stop go speed (change of direction) , balance and strength
( there is reason why tennis grand slam winners are like 6' 3 and World 100 meter holder Bolt is 6'5
                        Djokovic/Height
                        1.88 m

                        Rafael Nadal
                        1.85 m

                        Roger Federer
                        1.85 m

                        Nick Kyrgios
                        1.93 m

results are all about consistency ( not one offs)

skill levels are all quite similar , if you notice WNBA shooting % in FT and 3 pt shooting competition ( the % are high similar to men )

                        • For me Abando is a good athlete even internationally, not just the hops, the speed with which he can get up or go he’s very quick off the ground and has a quick 2nd jump as well, also his length, despite being only 6’2 he’s one of the leaders in shot blocks in the KBL. Good body control, if he was taller could have made a really good 3 or 4

                          • The thing is our athletic players Japeth Kobe , Lopez are deficient in skill. It's the combination of both

He lacked strength though. But he's already decent even with his shortcomings.

There's seems to be always something holding back our athletic players. I'm getting the Kobe vibes from Lopez but I hope that's not the case.

most of our local superstars (that are not PGs) are generally enamored with offense - that's why when we make it internationally, our weaknesses are exposed (i.e Kobe p, dave, Japeth Kai)

I think Pingris is the only superstar local player that was defensively sound in individual and team defense that we had for the past decade and maybe thirdy
